I don’t remember how the subject came up bu one them, an acquaintance to me, said very dryly, coldly, that he was tired of hearing about people of ethnic ancestries ( hyphenated Americans ) blowing their horns and how it’s the WASPs that should be blowing their own horns as the most authentic of Americans. You had to be there; there was a bitter coldness to it that suggested that it was bothering the hell out of him for quite some time.
