I noted that his announcement was written very carefully to only speak in terms of generalities rather than specifics, such that both sides could listen to it and think that when he referred the lies, tribalism and extremism that he was talking about the other side. So while we on the left may view his speech as a rebuke of Trumpism, he’s keeping his options open. ---

Yeah, this. I don’t have a scorecard for who’s who in Congress, and after listening to the whole thing, I still had to google him to find out which party he was from. The only line which gave you any kind of a hint was about the other 9 members of the house who voted to impeach a president from their own party, and even that was worded so passively that unless you knew him already, you’d have a hard time figuring out that he also voted that way.
