I see what you did there, but another one would have “Mockingbird” in the title. Another would have “Huckleberry.” Another would have “Catcher” and “Rye” in the same title. My mother was a bookseller, for an independent bookstore. She took particular delight in “Banned Books Week,” an invention of her bookstore, when the store displayed, in its windows, all the books that had been banned by various school boards, and they were on sale. Mom strongly believed that no book should be banned, and enjoyed selecting the window offerings for “Banned Books Week.” Thanks to Mom, neither my sister nor I were prevented from reading anything we wanted to, at any age. ---

The Goddard (Kansas) school district ordered the removal of 29 books from all its libraries. Those books were on a list submitted by a concerned parent over what the innocent students in the district might be subjected to reading. Included on the list were books by Margaret Atwood (_The Handmaid’s Tale_) and Toni Morrison. A couple of problems, however: district policy dictates that if a book is challenged, the process is to go through a thorough review to determine if the subject is not in line with the educational guidelines. And, oh by the way, not all of the books were available in the Goddard libraries. Turns out that 28 of the books were on a list being circulated nationwide and challenged in various school districts.
