I wasn’t able to reach Fr. Altman to learn if he intended to refuse the Sacraments to Catholic Democrats who are committed to remaining (and voting for) Democrats. Nor was I able to reach the communications director for the Diocese of LaCrosse to learn if the bishop had any thoughts on the content of the video (that he was authorized to share). I DID learn that the bishop of Tyler, Texas endorses Father Altman’s comments. Does anyone know if this kind of overt politicking is common elsewhere in the Catholic regions of the world?\* \*I don’t consider the fact that a Jesuit priest gave an invocation to close the DNC to be an example of overt politicking. I’m curious to know whether priests in France, Colombia, Portugal, the Philippines, and elsewhere speak from the pulpit to their congregants this way. ---

Should be “Bill Gates’s” vaccine, because the proper noun Gates is singular. ---

There’s some debate on which is correct, according to the technical writers’ list I am on. Or maybe that’s how to pluralize nouns that end in ‘s’. It’s been a long day… ---
