They have no problem with a two-tiered “justice” system — or cruelty — as long as the bottom tier and cruelty are reserved for the right people (aka “Them”). ---

I would point out that Oxford MI, location of the recent school shooting is a fairly conservative community and those Congresscritters posting gun pics are doing so when some folks who might be, broadly speaking, their folks have lost family members. Perhaps they might be rethinking their affiliation, though. ---

Seriously, tribal coherence is a powerful force. Part of the process is re-enforcing coherence, through these types of fetish displays. The point is to keep whomever from having thoughts that stray from the fold. ---

I remember being uncomfortable with James Earl Carter because he was too conservative. And really, when you look at many of his policies, he was pretty darn conservative. The whole savings and loan crisis of the late '80s was largely due to a policy Carter established in the late '70s. In truth, you can be a decent, caring person and still be so short-sighted that the things you think will make life better will do the opposite. An actual conservative will be willing to adapt to make improvements when they see that the old way is causing problems. Modern RWers are not like that. They see that it is not working so they just say that we are not doing it hard enough. ---

Pro-authoritarianism implies pro-hierarchy, and the most basic of pro-hierarchy beliefs includes the “fact” that one gender is inherently inferior to the other. And sadly, women who watch his show will just accept that they are inferior and that it’s God’s plan and whatnot—so this new initiative won’t hurt Tucker’s ratings at all. ---
