The prisoner cried, hugged Vladek, and said “God answered my prayers through you.” How can anybody ban such a beautiful story like that, one of hope and joy in the middle of crippling, hellacious misery? ---

No, see, they’re just saying that we should have historical fiction about World War II without dwelling on all those silly little irrelevancies like the Holocaust. I mean, it’d be the same story without it, no need to make the Nazis look bad and all. ---

Or watch violent movies? (As long as there’s no cussing.) Are those okay because they’re fiction, but the Holocaust really happened… or did it? ---
