With that last sentence, maybe, but “science says there can’t be a black mermaid, Disney is caving in to anti-white wokeness” is sadly a common talking point with alt-right troglodytes online. You only need look no further than the Youtube comments on the trailer for the remake to see that. ---

I still remember when some Dopers told me that it was exaggerated to point out that many right-wingers out there were beginning to use “woke” as an insult, but now with the meaning to be really: ‘don’t be a n\*\*\*\*\*lover’. A **threat** /complaint to companies or organizations that keep minorities in mind or try to be fair to them. A new Dog Whistle where many moderates do miss the meaning that many bigots are giving it now with almost no worries.
