Exactly. Further, transporting people across state lines might make it federal, and IANAL but ISTM that transporting people across state lines while lying to them about why they are being transported might be kidnapping or similar. ---

Wow-- great research. And documentation, too. 👍🏽 What about navels? Do mermaids even have navels? I remember when Walt was alive, he wouldn’t let Annette show her navel in the beach movies. Exposure of the female navel is the slippery slope down which Western Civilization slides into the cesspool of no return. Nobody cares about male navels. ---

There are some Latino-Americans who are descendents of Spanish settlers who were living in what is now the U.S. before there was a U.S. There are others who are immigrants of more recent vintages who see many of the later immigrants as bringing a great deal of the problems of Latin America with them, and don’t feel like the U.S. should have to deal with them. There are some who immigrated legally - and it’s a long line - and have a great deal of disdain for the “linecutters” who crossed without authorization or for those they consider “fake” refugees or asylees. A lot of Latinos will continue to vote Republican for social or religious reasons, and don’t feel that Republican propaganda really affects their lives, at least not as much as what they see as an overly tolerant social culture or oppressive regulations keeping them from getting ahead by a dint of hard work. All of which is to say that it’s hard to generalize about a group that encompasses my cousin-in-law who immigrated legally from Argentina in the 70s, one of my best friends growing up whose parents came here from Spain well before he was born, and the woman who cleans for us who arrived without papers and was legalized by the Reagan amnesty. Latinos are large, and contain multitudes.
