I agree, but I don’t know if they would be eligible to work. If not, they should be, IMHO, but I don’t think that’s how it works.

Authoritarian agencies are going to attract authoritarians, even under a Democratic administration.
That they were encouraged to let their freak flags fly under the previous administration doesn’t help, as they are reluctant to put furl them back up.

The Republicans (including the New York Post) are claiming that because the immigrants were moved from Martha’s Vineyard to the military base on Cape Cod, they have been “deported”.
The chairman of the Texas GOP posted a video of a mariachi band, claiming it was Martha’s Vineyard. He clearly doesn’t know the difference between Mexico and Venezuela.

ICE is just another LEA – they _all_ need denazification, at the very least.
(The other irony is that these people are from Venezuela, a country that is regarded by many to have an evil commie dictatorship, so why would we not welcome their refugees?)

Business Insider asked Marco Rubio if he supports Lindsay Graham’s anti-abortion bill, and Rubio sent back a letter demanding that Business Insider ask Democrats what restrictions they would impose, and ordered Business Insider to report back to him by September 20, or else Rubio’s office will assume that “Non-answers will be treated as an acknowledgment that your publication has NOT asked those types of questions to any federally elected Democrat.”

If not: almost certainly the Nazification will proceed apace.

Yeah, there’s a LOT of doublethink going on in GOP/right-wing-media circles about this issue. As you say, the right should be highlighting and praising the brave anti-Communists who’ve repudiated the Evil Commie Dictatorship—_but that would mean highlighting and praising BROWN people._
And that’s simply _not_ the done thing for any present-day Republican hoping to retain the hearts and minds and votes of the MAGA crowd.

The appropriate reply is to send an exact repeat of the original query through some other channel, and an additional query to the effect of “Are you aware that some idiot is intercepting your [first communication channel] and sending out replies in your name?”
