Despite him managing to return in time to vote - much to his colleagues’ joy/applause - I wouldn’t have put it past the GOP trying to spin that as somehow being derelict to his congressional duties, or something. (“unpatriotic”?) Too bad those GOP congressbozos couldn’t have tried the same. ---

There was some small hope that a few GOP members would finally become disgusted enough to vote for the Democrat, and so he would sneak in as the Speaker. In that scenario, every votes counts. ---

Part of me hopes they do actually gut medicare/SS. I’m in my early 40’s so, hopefully, it would be fixed by the time I’m in my 60’s. However, my dad and his friends have been starting to enroll and have been excited about the extra income each month. Maybe if that income suddenly evaporated they might have some different feelings on the politicians they support (who, no doubt, will tell them it’s biden’s fault). ---
