I thought for sure the whole “point” of that photo was that the girl washing her hands has a fake “kitty tail” on the seat of her jeans. I’ve personally gone up to women on the beach, sunbathig in their bikinis and asked them for a tampon for my girlfriend who was shut away in the beach toilet, horribly embarrassed. Not a single woman complained. It took maybe three groups of people before someone had a tampon in their bag that they could donate. I carry around 3 to 4 in my backpack as part of the “medical aid kit” - I’m not going to use them but I do hike with women. ---

Tampons were originally developed for first aid for trauma wounds. I mean, you really hope you won’t have to do any major first aid while out hiking, but best to be prepared. Though if you’re ever out with a group and a woman in the group needs to borrow one, you might get some odd looks for having one in your bag.
