Check on Republicans in the wild. They are _not_ doing okay right now. The conversation I had today with a guy ahead of me in line at Food Lion only heightened my conviction never to wear any political shirts in public (which I wasn’t). He started complaining about how prices are so high, and when I said it was due to corporate greed, he said it was _Biden’s_ fault, and that when he himself wins the lottery, he’s gonna run for president and give power back to the common people. (I think he might have even muttered something about getting rid of Congress). I failed to ask him what qualifications he has for president. Or how suddenly winning the lottery wouldn’t make him another rich, arrogant bastard. ---

The laws, and the Constitution, and more specifically the Supreme Court, have simply never really figured out what to do with this. The incitement must lead to _immediate_ violence to be forbidden, otherwise the First Amendment prevails. Even Trump’s rally and incendiary speech on January 6 2021 was not immediate enough, apparently (although perhaps that still remains to be tested in court). ---

That’s because they want what he blathers to be true. Another thing they want is for the prejudices he voices out loud to be okay to voice out loud. He says what they wanted to say and now they’re saying it out loud too. On top of that, they’re convinced that Satan himself as long as ol’ Nick is a republican is a far better choice than any Democrat who, as they all know, are traitors, bigots, liars, and out to destroy the United States of God’s America!
