Not sure if this belongs here or in the/a law enforcement thread: A state rep is floating the idea of charging people for copies of police body cam footage due to the amount of time it takes for someone to redact sensitive information before releasing it. But a random youtuber or the person that just wants to see it because it happened a block away from their house…maybe charge them. I know where I land on the issue, that is, I think it should be free, but I understand how it can get old if they have a bunch of self appointed SJWs making FOIA requests every time they see a cop. Also, for the sake of the argument, I’m working on the assumption that the redactions are necessary and not covering something up. ---

I work for County Gov. About 15 years ago, we had a request for every email between about… 6 people. At the time we kept everything going back years and years. I think it was estimated that it cost us about 10k to search through all the back ups (tape at the time). I don’t know why we didn’t just copy everything and just say here, knock yourself out. Anyway, we changed email retention policy because of it. Keep the stuff you want/is important, everything else gets dumped in I think 2 months. There is a shit ton of chaff in emails. ---

“Very stable genius” has always seemed a bit incel to me. Technically Trump has actually had sex, so I suppose he is not an incel, but I wonder how many times his various wives and mistresses just closed their eyes and thought about grocery shopping instead. ---
