I tend to associate “pulpit” with church, where a priest gives moral guidance to his parishoners. Seems a bit of a slip for someone to use that word for Trump’s lectern at a political rally. ---

If we are going to name something after him to honor achievements that are fictional, how about naming something imaginary after him. The DJT memorial day of recognition of that time he stood in front of the UN, bragged about his accomplishments and nobody laughed. Every February 30th. ---

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole trying to find what the truth is on this particular factoid, since it didn’t get much coverage on MSM, as I remember, and all the references are on RW media…which isn’t big on details. What it comes down to is that in the immediate aftermath of Jan 6th, the FBI was trying to find all of the perpetrators, as there were very few arrests on the day. They asked the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network to aid them with cross-checking suspects’ bank data for things like plane tickets to get to washington, or hotel stays in Washington, primarily. But also, a long list of other indicators, which included “the purchase of books (including religious texts) and subscriptions to other media containing extremist views”. Note that this doesn’t actually say the bible, and this is from a quote from Jim Jordan, who was trying his darnedest to sensationalize what the FBI had done ([cite](https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2024/jan/17/federal-agencies-flagged-americans-financial-trans/)). So, if you were a suspect for the Jan 6th insurrection, then in the aftermath of Jan 6th, then if you already had things that tied you to being there, then the fact that you bought some religious text containing extremist views (who knows what was meant by that, but I’d wager there are white nationalist texts with a supposed religious tint) might be an extra thing to put suspicion on you. Which then becomes: Biden has told the FBI to hunt anyone that buys a Bible! Sadly, it’s taken on a life both in the US but also here in the UK: this recent [misinformation-laden article](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/us/comment/2024/03/31/joe-biden-easter-transgender-day-of-remembrance-christian/) by the Telegraph gets numerous things wrong about the trans day hoo-hah, and then essentially says “What do you expect from a president that tracks Bible-buyers as terrorists?!” ---

Which really highlights the double standard of the GOP, in that they think that it is prudent to use the purchase of a Koran as a reason for additional scrutiny, but looking at whether someone bought a bible, is a first amendment violation. ---
