[Migrants sent to Martha’s Vineyard by DeSantis can sue charter flight company, judge rules](https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4569608-migrants-marthas-vineyard-desantis-sue-charter-flight-company/)

> A Massachusetts district court judge dismissed three counts levied against the Florida-based company but ruled Vertol must face the eight remaining counts. The judge dismissed the state actors, including DeSantis, as defendants in this case, after determining the court lacked jurisdiction.

The judge also added:

> “Treating vulnerable individuals like Plaintiffs in this way, as alleged and accepted as true for purposes of the motion to dismiss, … is nothing short of extreme, outrageous, uncivilized, intolerable, and stunning.”

Desantis’ reply to all this:

> We look forward to Florida’s next illegal immigrant relocation flight

Question:

Apparently the counts against DeSantis were dismissed due to lack of jurisdiction.

But can charter flight company Vertol Systems Co. successfully sue DeSantis for hiring them for an illegal act? For a contracting them for a flight which subsequently led to financial losses, due to the illegality of the act?

IANAL, but ISTM they went into the deal with eyes open and could have told DeSantis to fuck off. “We didn’t know it would be illegal” sounds like lousy grounds for a lawsuit.

Against a normal defendant perhaps, but against the sitting governor of a state? There would seem to be reasonable grounds for a company to make the assumption that they were conducting legal business if the governor hires you.

Yep. Pretty much a “hold my beer” comment.

You might have a point there. And since I suspect Vertol is run by the kind of rightwing douchebags who’d think this was a swell idea, the lawsuit could turn into one of those glorious leopard-eating-face episodes.

Yeah but DeSantis is a white middle-aged republican. And the governor. So the laws don’t apply to them.

So Washington D.C. will have _two_ airports named after supposedly popular but reviled presidents? I’m told the main sign inside the Reagan airport terminal is covered with spit – most likely from air-traffic controllers.

Apparently the GOP is pivoting WRT absentee/early voting. Now they _want_ their supporters to vote early, but they must have forgotten to give Trump the memo.

> **[Trump's Wisconsin rally exemplifies GOP's mixed messaging on absentee voting](https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/04/03/trump-wisconsin-rally-exemplifies-mixed-messaging-on-absentee-voting/73186034007/)**
>
> Wisconsin Republicans and the party's presidential candidate are sending mixed messages to voters over whether to trust Wisconsin's elections system.

> Republican Party of Wisconsin chairman Brian Schimming and the state’s top elected Republican, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, urged supporters of former President Donald Trump at [his Green Bay rally Tuesday](https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/04/02/donald-trumps-wisconsin-rally-immigration-2020-false-claims/73179467007/) to embrace early voting in Wisconsin

> But when Trump took the stage at a rally in Green Bay, he again sought to dampen trust in the state’s election system by promoting the false claim that he would have won the presidential contest in Wisconsin 2020 if it had not been for election malfeasance driven by absentee voting in Milwaukee.

I wonder if he actually wasn’t filled in on that change (it was news to me) or if he was but went to his default early voting=cheating mentality.

his default ~~early voting~~ cheating mentality. That’s all he knows how to do. For his entire life. He knows of no other way. Therefore others cheat all the time too.

That’s it, I’m selling “Chemtrail Detectors”. Just a 3D printed shell with little annoyatron’s inside that beeps randomly “because it’s detecting trace amounts that are now found naturally because of woke DEI”. Due to having to detect aerosolized titanium, aluminum, arsenic, and other radioactive chemicals, it’ll be pretty expensive, and you’ll have to buy replacement batteries from me as well, to ensure no heavy metals are infecting the universal sensor. Couple hundred bucks and free shipping in the continental US.
