I don’t see them having much influence in any segment of society. ---

Honestly though if you restrict yourself to Republicans, Trump is quite low on the homophobia spectrum. Yes, he probably sissy jokes about them to his friends, but he doesn’t seem to actively hate them like much of the Republican party do, so if one were a log Cabin Republican you might see Trump as an ally. Of course regardless of his personal feelings, Trump will gladly throw them under a bus for political expediency. So if he gets more cheers at his rallies by calling for their extermination then off to the gas chambers they go. ---

Actually, Trump and most MAGAts are anti-trans in the extreme, so that makes them more homophobic than most Ds. And very anti-gay themed books in school or public libraries. And they are very worked up about gay people being “groomers” also. ---

MAGAt’s are definitely homophobic and anti-Trans in the extreme, but Trump early on showed more [tendencies (gift link)](https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/23/us/politics/donald-trump-gay-rights.html) towards acceptance of gays than the mainstream Republican party at the time. Since then Trump has hardened his views, but I think this is the the case of Trump following his base rather than leading them. Of course policy wise this is a distinction without a difference, but if one was deluded enough to think that the **must** be a place for them in a party that obviously hates them, then they would probably focus on him. It is also my impression that when it comes to LGBT representation among the log cabin’s that its heavy on the G and maybe B, but very light on the L (2/19 of their [leadership](https://logcabin.org/about-us/leadership/) are women) and practically non-existant on the T (with the exception of Jenner), and are perfectly willing to [sell them out](https://www.dallasnews.com/news/politics/2022/04/19/texas-lgbtq-republicans-support-blocking-certain-medical-treatments-for-transgender-youth/). ---

Trump “nothings” them, like everyone else. He doesn’t care. If he could divorce Melania or disown his kids to get elected, he’d to it today. No individual or group matters to him. In some ways, that’s worse. ---
