Oh yeah I remember that part. That’s from the speech given by the “Spirit of Christmases I had to miss because my fat ass got convicted for hush money payments in an attempt to illegally influence an election.” Dickens cut that part out of the final draft. ---

A quick Google shows that scholars disagree on whether the Constitution contains a general right to vote (as opposed to protection from discrimination in whatever electoral process exists), but SCOTUS has explicitly identified a right to vote in multiple decisions. ---

That seems like a position that Republican justices would take. Call me stupid or brain-dead or something. I’ll accept that. But please tell me what I’m missing. ---

At least two of the five Democrats must have taken that position, or the court as a whole wouldn’t have ruled that way. Democrats are at least as much to blame for this decisions as Republicans are, hence it doesn’t belong in the Stupid Republican thread. ---

That Democrat appointees hold that the state constitution does not explicitly, or has ever been found in case law _to_, guarantee a general right to vote might be telling us something.
