I had some religious folks show up at my college once and hand out little bibles with green plastic covers. My friend took about 20 of them, ripped off the covers in our room, and glued them all together to play a paladin in a LARP session ( and later Halloween). Excellent for starting conversations. Somehow he became a fundy after graduating. 🤷‍♂️ ---

My piano teacher years ago in the Monterey area told me about the time he and his best friend were in line at the big book store/cafe in The Barnyard in Carmel. The woman in front of them turned around and started blathering about the menu and wouldn’t stop. Teacher’s best friend finally got a chance to respond and said, “My mother told me not to speak to strangers”. ---
