Man, we were poor as hell when I was growing up. Peanuts and a coke would have been quite the treat. I thought the Craigslist ads were to boost attendance. His numbers are not what they used to be. ---

I’ll bet the peanuts and coke thing happened…_once_ I’ve met lots of people who’ve said words to the effect of “Growing up, we only had X” and then if you ask about it it turns out to be an anecdote of a specific experience. Which doesn’t mean they didn’t grow up poor, just that it may not be a representative example. You know when you’ve met someone who grew up in extreme food poverty because they’ll talk about _that one really good dinner_ that time 😕 ---

It’s not unlike some of the con artists online who claim they can survive without eating by breathing the air. Of course, on closer inspection, they admit they occasionally eat something for the flavor or the sensation. But not to draw sustenance. Nope. ---

I grew up poor, and although I never had to subsist on coke and peanuts, I did have to suffer through lesser brand pop: Jolly Good, Little Chute, Shasta. gah. I knew we were out of poverty when we could buy real Coke! ---
