Made me look - from [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympia_Caf%C3%A9)

> Attempts to order [Coke](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coca-Cola) (later Pepsi) were invariably met with the retort, “No Coke! Petsi!” (or later on, “No Petsi! Coke!”)

Can’t find it online anywhere, and no details on why the switch, so . . .

I definitely recall them switching in at least one sketch 9and they ran the “greek diner” sketch many times), but don’t recall when or why they switched.

Buck Henry played the Coke rep, and “No Pepsi, Coke!” was basically the punchline of the sketch. I think it was only said that one time— they were back to Pepsi again the next time they did that sketch.

A Coke representative came in to pitch the product, but wound up talking to one of the cooks (Bill Murray, I think) who didn’t speak English. Bill kept saying “no Coke, Pepsi”, and the rep thought he was just being a tough negotiator, and keeps lowering his price. Finally he talks to John Belushi, and the deal is so good that he switches on the spot. The next customer tries to order a Pepsi, and Belushi tells her “no Pepsi, Coke.”

I was watching a [video by The Good Liars](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MvXBxMWU3w), and they interviewed someone who shared their conviction that Trump would be president again:

See, Trump was the 45th president; if elected again, he would be the 47th president. 4 + 5 = 9 and 4 + 7 = 11.Trump is going to rain down 9/11 on his enemies and the Deep State.

I don’t know how I could have missed this! I must not have seen it mentioned in my horoscope, yet.

A wonderful series! It made me a big fan of Mark Gattis who I believe conceptualized the series (also wrote many episodes in addition to playing Mycroft Holmes). He’s a very talented man.

That was just one guy. Some others that stood out: Trump never called for a Muslim ban, the earth is flat, Trump never lies, and my favorite–Mike Lindell is actually JFK, Jr.

Eh, random weirdos on the Internet are kind of low-hanging fruit. You can find random weirdos of any political persuasion you can think of, and many times more of persuasions you can’t think of. I’d rather keep this thread for people who can be said to represent Republicans as a group: Elected officials, party officers, prominent commentators, etc.

What is truth anyway?

There’s a wonderful essay written years ago by Isaac Asimov called the “[Relativity of Wrong](https://www.sas.upenn.edu/~dbalmer/eportfolio/Nature%20of%20Science_Asimov.pdf).” In it, he discusses how science progresses and gets more nit-picky (for lack of a better word).

Einstein figured out over a century ago that in relativistic regimes where the velocities of moving objects are comparable to the speed of light that many Newtonian equations no longer match what is observed. So he modified them accordingly. At normal non-relativistic speeds the differences are completely negligible. So there is no reason not to use the Newtonian formulas for most cases. If you have a black-and-white way of looking at things, Newton’s equations are “not true” while Einstein’s equations are “true” (at least until we find an exception).

But a better way to think about them is that Newton’s equations are a very, very good approximation for the real world in most cases (indeed indistinguishable from Einstein’s equations at non-relativistic speeds), and that Einstein’s equations are better still. My original nitpick above was in response to someone saying that a particular formulation of Newton’s Second Law was “always true.”

This is why Newton’s equations are still taught in physics classes today. And the fact that Einstein tweaked them slightly doesn’t mean that it’s necessary to toss them aside completely.

Well, yesterday I carelessly broke a tooth that was already damaged, and I’m going to need another $5K implant. I uttered quite a few **DENTAL DAMNS!** today. Is that what you’re talking about? Prolly not, 'cause I’m old.

Never mind.

As you were.

Dental dams are thin, flexible pieces of latex or polyurethane used as a barrier between the mouth and the vagina or anus during oral sex.
