Okay, I’m missing something. How is this Chinese national working in the U.S. if he doesn’t have a green card? Could he not be deported for doing this? Or are “green cards” and the sort of temporary work permits two different things? Please enlighten. ---

He’s got an H1B visa and is likely working up to the point of getting a green card, i.e. permanent US residency. Or at least trying to. It can take a decade or more these days, once you start the process. ---

For obvious reasons, the left wants to be as close as possible and the right wants them as far away as possible and then this has to be reconciled with with 1A. At one point during Trump’s Manhattan trial, Trump was claiming, without evidence, that the MAGA demonstrators were being kept away from the courthouse and they should be allowed to get closer, while at the same time the RNC is working to keep protestors away. ---

I don’t even think of it as hypocrisy at this point. MAGA is completely tribal and has no real principles. So, if you’re MAGA, you should be free to do absolutely anything, including things which would otherwise be considered against the law or immoral. If you don’t belong to that tribe, then all freedoms should be taken away from you, and consider yourself grateful that you are being allowed to live at all. ---
