The Guardian agrees with me, but NYT, Reuters etc. do not. The Rolling Stone piece sidestepped it. Interesting. There’s no point in asking the campaign, but it sounded to me like an unguarded slip of the tongue. ---

NYT pretty much buried it. This ought to be that moment in the The Dead Zone when the evil candidate gets photographed holding up the child as a human shield for himself, ending his campaign once and for all and preventing the apocalypse. But it’s not that moment; of course it’s part of the deliberate strategy of just spewing insane garbage from a firehose 24/7, so the stuff people really need to sit up and take notice of gets buried 5 minutes later by the next crazy thing. ---

And does any one of them think he’s sincere when he says “I love you Christians”? It reminds me of when [insert band from your teens] came to [insert your town] and said “We love being in [insert your town], the rockingest town in the world!” ---
