There is some basis for the rumor, but it’s not an accurate representation. There are federal programs to buy up flood prone properties and clear them to use a flood buffer space. FEMA and HUD do go in to frequently flooding areas and buy up the property. The catch is that these programs are voluntary. No one is forced to comply. There are also state programs in some areas. ---

Nothing Abrams or his listeners do is going to change the father-in-law’s mind. And the MAGA faithful will rally around this guy and he’ll be driven deeper into the fold. I think it’s a shame that someone is so divorced from reality to behave that way, but publicizing it doesn’t help end it. ---

Maybe it’s a warning to others to intervene if they see someone they care about spouting this nonsense, before they do something stupid. It’s easy to presume all MAGAts are unreachable, as that’s the image they project, but maybe some are reachable with the right intervention. ---
