At the event space I work at sometimes the bathroom is arranged with private stalls to do your business and one ante-room where everyone washes up. So far no trans people have attacked anyone. ---

We’re also implementing unisex toilets in the internal bathrooms at all state government offices where I work (where the state actually controls the space; some of our offices have public bathrooms just outside of areas we control which are gender-specific). And as you said, they are not a big deal. The stalls provide enough privacy without needing to separate genders from sharing the bathroom space entirely. I’d be fully in favor of just making all bathrooms nationwide be unisex. That would end the problem you have where women are lined up outside the women’s room and the men’s room sits unused because guys are able to be in and out quickly. ---

I’ve been in many smaller public spaces, such as restaurants or convenience stores, where there are only two “one hoss” bathrooms that are single occupancy locked door rooms that have “male” and “female” signage as their only significant differences. The only step to make them unisex would be to change the signs. This could, and should, be done immediately. Who would care? (well, the tighty-righties would care, but I consider that a feature, not a bug. If they complain, they can hold it in until they get home.) ---

The natural history museum I volunteer at has three levels and a pair of segregated bathrooms on each level, stacked atop each other in fact. In addition, off of one of our display galleys on the main floor were a pair of smaller ones, two stalls for the women and a single stall and urinal for the men. During the COVID shutdown they were converted into family bathrooms by putting locks on the doors, the kind showing a red _Occupied_ when thrown. ---
