Isn’t the VOA viewed around the word as the broadcast arm of the CIA? Kari Lake might as well be running the tiddlywink factory, for all that it matters. ---

Well the cite said hundreds of millions so clearly yes. That said, if the audience _in the US_ is small then it’s not a role anyone in government will care much about. That said that said, it won’t stop her hosting whatever shows in the US as well, so it’s a nice little side hustle for her. ---

You don’t really need that many, though. People will be using their iron lungs for the rest of their lives, so you’ll need a lot. Iron maidens will also last for the lifetime of the user, but that won’t be as long, and they can be easily reused. Don’t even have to clean them. ---

A big part of the reason that entertainment like _Game of Thrones_ is popular, is that millions fantasize about the peasants bowing down and calling them “Your Grace.” Also, medieval economies are great for those with, shall we say, less-conventional tastes. The more families that are starving, the more choice you’ll have of three-year-olds (traded to you for a crust of bread). (I wish I were kidding. My guess is that some proportion of right-wingery is motivated by the knowledge that severe asset inequality leads to better availability of humans for trafficking.) ---
