I mean, it is true that South American screwworms are a threat to the American beef industry. Today, on The New Yorker Radio Hour (a public radio program hosted by David Remnick, the editor of The New Yorker magazine), Andrew Ross Sorkin was the guest, there to discuss “what 1929 teaches us about 2025,” specifically whether we’re in a bubble. At one point, he was asked about who is the “adult in the room” (meaning the White House) and he said he thought that Scott Bessent was one. ---

Just as there were people in Dubya’s admin who took advantage of their association with a dim-bulb president to further their own agendas, folks like Bessent are doing the same thing in the Trump admin. ---

Although Ted Cruz’s announcement is exactly what Donald Trump didn’t want and was trying to prevent; an open race for the 2028 Republican nomination, because that shifts attention away from him and makes him a lame duck. ---

It’ll make it easier for trump to cancel the 2028 election. He just needs to point out that if there is a primary and an election, Cruz might well be elected. I think even the Democrats would agree that’d be a national emergency. [/sarcasm] ---

The Federal Government has whatever power they take that is not directly taken back from them by other branches of government.
