> Conversely, we could just attach little Jesus figures to the existing wind turbines.

I don’t mean this to become a windmill fanatic thread…

But Portuguese windmills typically have a number of small pots attached to the sails at different angles, so the Miller can hear the different notes indicated by the speed of the sails from inside without needing to stop doing his primary job.

Back on topic… Slightly.

My only reference to Jesus is the cult classic Plastic Jesus, which is good a reference to Donald Jesus-what-were-we-thinking Trump as is possible. Covered by many people

Yes, accelerationalism isn’t just for politics. There’s a strain of evangelical Christian eschatology that actively supports global instability, particularly in the Middle East, in the hopes of bringing about the end of the world a la the Book of Revelation. Naturally, that type supports Israel but hates Jews. Weird bunch.

We’ve always had end of the world nutters in this country. It’s in our DNA - literally many of the Puritans thought the end of the world was nigh and the kingdom of Heaven on Earth would be in North America. Jesus’ failure to return has never stopped them or their successors from continuing to believe it was _really_ just around the corner _this_ time. But only recently we’ve decided it would be a good idea to give that sort massive political power as well.

There are lots of those scattered around the country. They all look the same, as if they’re made out of aluminum siding.

The one that I see most frequently is on Interstate 75 in Tennessee, which we see during trips to Gatlinburg. There used to be an adult video store right next to it, but they appear to have gone out of business. I guess the aluminum siding cross was more powerful.

Well, how can they prove how persecuted Christians are in this country unless there are giant crosses all over the place?

You misunderstand. The proof of their persecution is all the lots that _don’t_ have giant crosses on them.

Or so they would tell you. Idjits.

There’s one on I-5 in the southern part of Washington State, not too far north of Oregon.

I can’t find any photos of it though.

"Because the only true Americans are Christian Americans, and then only if you don’t look too closely at their denomination or their personal lives. "

“Because Gods needs to know we are true believers so he will protect our country from pandemics, wildfires, massive floods, and invasions from enemies like Greenland and Panama.”

Because public prayer isn’t about talking to God, it’s about pressuring others to feel the need to participate in order to fit in.

No, they know their own religion pretty good. Not Jesus’s religion, but their own.

Big cruise crosses and statues aren’t about showing faith to God. They are about showing how much better you are than your neighbors. They are about showing outsiders who is really in charge - pedophile priests, pastors, and youth counselors, money-grubbing, greedy “spiritual advisors”, and holier-than-thou hypocrites who want to micromanage your life for sins while sneaking around doing many more sins of their own - often the ones they are most adamant about stamping out.

> [@enipla](#):

> Ok. I don’t get it. Hundreds of millions are wearing the symbol of the way Jesus was tourtured.

It’s explanable within the religious context. Jesus’s suffering on the cross and death was a gallant gesture of love so that Jesus could pay the blood debt for all of humanity’s sins. So they are celebrating Jesus’s act of love. I know, that explanation holds many more confusing principals that don’t even make sense within the religion.

The explanation has more holes in it than a colander. This is a repsonse to the religion, not you @Irishman .

A little noose-shaped pendant on a chain, I could see that. I don’t see us wearing a literal noose any more than we walk around nailed to crosses.
