“Conservatism” is the recognition that in the Eiffel tower-shaped tapering spire of inequality, your personal spot is high enough you could be injured in a fall to the bottom. So anything that moves the status quo even imperceptibly slightly just _might_ topple the entire edifice and so must be resisted with all your might. Proportionality or fairness have nothing to do with it. It’s always and only “ **I got mine!!!** ” ---

Controlling the means of production is a major part of Communism and Socialism. That gives the government the power far greater means to control the economy and the people. ---
