I’ve seen a comment on Facebook about this message demanding that stores don’t give SNAP holders freebies or discounts being the latest attempt to provide a plausible rationale for invoking the Insurrection Act: Get the poors so desperate that they start food riots, and voila! Time to send in the troops! I wish I could dismiss this as just crazy talk. ---

Oh, they’ll find another reason for the insurrection act. What worries me is that this admin will say that “SNAP was never needed, they get free food” Viola, no more snap at least during this administration. ---

The sign could read _During the government shutdown and the resultant interruption of the SNAP program, this establishment is offering one loaf of bread at no charge to anyone upon request_. ---

Which ignores the _other_ beneficiaries of SNAP - the farmers. Not that Trump has been benevolent to farmers this time around, either… ---

I think Republicans have this fantasy that a tariff is a right wing superpower they can use on anyone at any time for any reason. Like, some guy takes a parking spot you wanted to pull into, you’re going to institute a 30% tariff, that’ll show him. It’s a magic curse that comes from bigotry, like the Dark Side of the Force.
