New Surname Suggestions?

“Ophelia” is such a pretty name. It’s almost a song.

I think it sounds best with a one-syllable surname, a longer (and prettier) one would be distracting.

Have you read Cider House Rules by John Irving? It’s about an orphanage, and the two nurses in charge of naming the brats have very divergent philosphies on the subject. I can’t remember very well, but the orphans ended up with great names, like “Homer Wells” (protagonist) and “Fuzzy Stone” … sorry I can’t remember any more, but if I needed a surname that’s where I would turn.

Plus it’s a great book !

Ophelia Luxury-Yacht. (Pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove.)

Well, someone had to say it.

Ophelia Wrinklefixer. Ooh, I gotta write that one down!

I second the suggestion of taking the (sur)name of a relative who means much to you. I had toyed with the idea of taking my mom’s maiden name when I was much younger (until I found out my paternal ancestors were a much better lot than my dad). You might find something that fits quite nicely.

Did I mention that I really like Snow, too?

I like that cadence, and it is a much better suggestion than mine.

Someone already mentioned Paine.

Other (probably not so good) suggestions;

Ophelia Cummings
Ophelia Johnson
Ophelia Memorobilia (guarantee people won’t forget your name!)
Ophelia Out
But perhaps you should skip right to the faux rich name of;

Ophelia Rothschilde
