Hello @stopnonstop and welcome to the Straight Dope! I hope you find your time here rewarding. Here’s a link to the beginning of the Canadopers thread. > [@Welcome to the Canadoper Café, 2025!](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/welcome-to-the-canadoper-cafe-2025/1012410): > > Hi, everybody! Happy New Year! Pull up a chair, grab a double-double or some caribou, have a Nanaimo bar or a butter tart. There’s poutine on the way, and a bit of tourtière still left… This is the place for all things Canadian on the SDMB - news, sports, politics, arts, geography, gossip. Canucks, ex-pats, and those curious about Canada and Canadians are all welcome! And my goodness! Does it ever look like there’s going to be a lot to talk about in the coming year! So, how’s by you this … Canada is fantastic and my wife and I enjoy visiting and sightseeing. Our honeymoon was in BC, at Whistler, and Chemainus on Vancouver Island. I grew up in the Northeast US and have been to the Maritimes, the Maritime Provinces several times. These days I live near San Francisco so we tend to explore the western provinces. So much to see and do! Yes as @Aspenglow says, the test thread is a ‘sandbox’ to just try things out. Help yourself! Almost anything goes there, within the forum rules of course. It is a place to test, to fail, and to learn. Welcome! --- _[View the full topic](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/new-to-the-dope/1026013)._
