# New TV season -- what looks good?

Well, we’re all looking forward to the return of our personal faves (I’ll be starting the first weekly _Apprentice_ thread of Season Two in the next day or so 😃 ) – but I’m sure I’m not the only one to read the Fall Preview issue of _Entertainment Weekly_ with great interest. Not that there was a lot **of** interest – dang, there’s gonna be several no-TV nights in the typical week for me.
One show I’m curious about, though, is [_Desperate Housewives_](http://abc.go.com/primetime/desperate/about.html) – Felicity Hoffman (of the late, lamented, _Sports Night_) and Teri Garr (I have no idea whether I should admit this or brag about it, but I loved _Lois & Clark_). If well done, it could be entertaining, and not just the same old same old.

Assuming the beautiful and talented \*\*vivalostwages \*\*will tape it for me, I am looking forward to Joey but since I have no cable and rely on her to keep me supplied in the three or four shows I watch, I have no idea what else might be coming on.

I’ll be the negative one and say that I can’t see anything good coming this fall. I have the same issue of EW and everything in it just makes me groan.

Jack & Bobby looks like a good show. One of the two boys becomes president. Apparently it’s had good reviews…
There is a show called The Mountain (or something) on WB. It’s about skiing or snowboarding I’d wager so I’ll watch that.
Gary Sinise is in CSI:NY. I don’t much like the other CSI’s but I’ll give this one a shot for him.
There’s some good returning shows that I’d rather watch. The first one, Jack and Bobby, is the only one I can see myself watching on a regular basis.

A book.
Ok…now that I’ve gotten the most pretentious answer possible outta the way, my short list of new stuff to watch is _CSI: NY_ and _Joey_.
What can I say? When I’m not reading, I like pap. 🙂

Wouldn’t it be interesting if that were _CSI: NY and Joey_? I’m not sure how effective Joey would be in investigating crimes, though.

CSI: NY will be damn near unwatchable because of the heavy filtering. I couldn’t stand the heavy grey/blue used in the crossover CSI: Miami ep last season.
I’m looking forward to Lost and Desperate Housewives (Hobbits! Plane Crashes! Dead people in the suburbs!), the 6th season of The Amazing Race, and Arrested Development.
Nothing else seems anywhere near appealing.

_Frasier_ lasted, what, 11 years? And many episodes were totally hilarious. (Admittedly, many episodes weren’t.) _Joey_ might not suck.

I hated Friends, so I won’t be watching Joey.
The only shows I’ll be watching, again, will be The Amazing Race, Survivor, and maybe The Apprentice, though it sounds like The Apprentice is going to be so heavy on the product placement this time around it might be unwatchable.

I will also try _Jack and Bobby_, along with \*Smallville \* and _24_. I’m sure there are other good shows on somewhere (I’ve heard \*Rescue Me \* is good, but I’ll be damned if I know when it’s on), but I probably won’t see them. Hooray for DVD box sets!

I also think _The Lost_ looks good, and it hasn’t been hyped to death, so maybe that means it’s actually good.
I’ve seen two episodes of _Hawaii_, and am not overly impressed. I’ll give _CSI: New York_ and _Medical Investigations_ (on NBC) a try, but I’m not getting too invested.
I don’t watch _CSI: Miami_, just the original Las Vegas version. I did watch the crossover episode, and like **Barbarian** , hated the damn blue filter thing, so if that gets annoying, I’ll quit watching. I really like Gary Sinise, and Hill Harper (is that his name?) from _The Handler_, so hopefully it’ll be good, blue filtering be damned.
_Medical Investigations_ could be good or could be really bad. We’ll just have to see. I have a feeling it’s going to be terribly cheesy.
I’m waiting for some shows to start back up: _Survivor, Navy NCIS, Joan of Arcadia, Third Watch, CSI, Without A Trace, ER_ and the next installment of _The Amazing Race_ (even though the current one hasn’t quite wrapped up yet).

The big difference here (IMHO) is that _Cheers_ was (and still is) far superior to _Friends_. The same will be said when comparing _Frasier_ to _Joey_.
_Joey_ will, in all likelihood, suck (again, IMHO).

It’s on FX at 10:00 PM EST on Wednesdays, repeats immediately at 11:00 PM EST, a few times over the weekend, and I believe one last time Sunday or Monday at 10:00 PM EST.
It is very good. It’s the only show I can think of that I don’t like missing. I’ll stay up and watch the 11:00 rerun if I miss anything at 10:00.

I’m really looking forward to _Lost_ as well. I saw the first episode at Comic-Con this year, and let me tell you, I will never look at a jet engine the same way again after seeing that opening sequence! Some recent interviews up at AICN make it sound like there are some real twists coming.
