I have a very similiar washer, and I love it. Perhaps you need to play around with the settings in order to get a feel for it? (It DOES take some getting used to)

With “HE” washers, you MUST use HE (high efficiency) detergent!
Did you read the owner’s manual?
Wait, so there was a receipt or other paper in the load, you found bits of paper on the washed clothes and somehow this is the machine’s fault?
I ran the clean cycle . yes I use HE detergent. loaded it around the edge . didn’t use borax. put 7 shirts and 1 pair of shorts that had already been washed in it twice. there is still lint .
Did you use liquid detergent or those little pouches? The lint is coming from somewhere–are you sure there was nothing left in the pockets of the shorts?
Also do you notice that your clothes sometimes smell like mildew after washing? That happens to me, but I’m not sure if it’s the washer or the dryer.
FYI I have this same machine & hate it too.
i use liquid. there probably was lint idk. no mildew.
here is a new story though. I washed a blanket and two sheets , after the was it looked alright but still smelled so I washed it again (there was a wash of some other stuff in between). after the second wash it had some crap on it (wtf) so I run the self clean cycle and wash it again (3rd time) here is what it looks like. it was cleaner before I washed it. http://imgur.com/OahF8JM
Have you contacted the store you bought it from? Perhaps you can return it! Trade up to something better suited to your needs? Surely they’d rather that than give you a refund, I expect!
I’d do something before the window to return it closes!
