> Does anyone know if Blizzard (again) updated the amount of XP you get for completing quests at the lower levels?
>
> A friend of mine and I play together on Wednesday nights. Last night was the first time we’d gotten to play since the patch, we went from just a bar or so into level 50 to more than half-way through level 51 in a little under 2 hours of playtime.
>
> All we did were the Searing Gorge quests, and there were at least two trips back to Ironforge during that 2 hours. It just seemed as though we were getting XP at a ferocious rate.

That sounds about right to me. It was like that before the patch too. Levels before 60 go at a pretty steady rate of no more than 2 hours per level, Outland is more like 3-4 hours, and Northrend is about 4. And those are conservative estimates IMO; rested XP and heirlooms can make it go so much faster.

What’s the record for the slowest climb to 80? My RL friend and I have been levelling together, 1.5-2 hours per week, for over two years. We’re still slogging through level 72 😃

My oldest characters (and we’re talking about late 2004/early 2005 here) are lvl 30ish. Of course, that’s mostly because I haven’t played them in several years, so it may not count.

>
> All tanks have had their AOE threat considerably nerfed, and I know that personally it takes me a bit to get my threat production ramped up. If a tank is having trouble with AOE aggro, suggest that they mark a target to focus on, at least for the first mob to go down. That way, they can be generating aggro on the entire pack while the DPS is only hitting one.

Thanks! I’ll try giving that macro a shot. 🙂

I’m also having good luck with unholy presence, although between that and the -10% attack speed from my frost spec, I fear my little she-elf is going to give herself a heart attack.

And that’s good to know, I suppose I should have figured since my tanking efforts have consisted of throwing out aoe dps, rather than an aoe taunt. I guess I am having trouble adjusting to one attack pulling aggro, whereas before I could spread my diseases, throw out Blood boil and D&D without pulling.

Tabbing through targets to keep my individual threat down has seemed to help as well.

Are there only a certain amount you can open and that’s it for the whole promotion (for want of a better word) or can one fly to each flight point and open buckets, like every day? Or what?

And the ice bucket brigade thing - that’s a daily, right? Didn’t work for me today.

Also when do dailies regenerate? 24 hours from the time you did your last one, or whenever the game resets?

Thanks

There are achievements for visiting all the candy buckets on Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, and Outlands, plus another achievement for getting all three continents. Far as I know, you can only hit each bucket once.

I got my first 10.5 piece yesterday night at raid. Hooray for having time to build up some EPGP priority. =) Also got the AGI ring that drops from one of the guys in Plague Wing. My ICC25 DPS has skyrocketed to 10k+ between the tweaks last week and these new drops, so I’m back to happy enhancement land.

On the other hand, is anyone else annoyed at the sheer bloody number of random drops you have to get to get the holiday achievement this time around? All the wands, the pet, the hat…

I disagree strongly. Historically, Horde has had the stronger PvP racials, and at the moment they’re pretty balanced. \*If \*Shadowmeld worked like a Rogue’s Stealth (i.e., you could move with it), \*then \*I’d agree with you.

If you weren’t aware, you can hide all of the factions you don’t care about. Select any faction so that the little sidebar pops up, and then check “Make inactive.” It will put that faction into another category at the very bottom of the window, where everything is just organized alphabetically. That way, the only factions you see up top are the ones you actually care about.

AFAICT, anybody who has an ability that (a) is only available under certain conditions or (b) becomes free to use under certain conditions now gets that ability highlighted when it’s active. On my Warrior, e.g., Revenge lights up any time it’s active; on my DK, Howling Blast lights up whenever I have the Fog of Something Something that makes it cost no runes.

Hey, these demons are living, thinking beings in their own right. You summoned them up from their eldritch depths; that doesn’t mean you get to start calling them Fluffy and add insult to injury. 😃

> Has Blizzard made the game too easy in order to retain customers?

A lot of this is just because they’re in the process of rebalancing everything. Right now, everything is sort of tuned for 85, which means it’s still out of whack for anything lower (including 80s).

Too, WoW has never really been \*that \*hard of a game. With the latest changes, they’ve just made it harder than ever to inadvertantly gimp yourself by making the “wrong” choices.

I have toons that have been in their 20s for years. And I still only have two max-level characters.

> [@Quasimodem](#):
>
> Are there only a certain amount you can open and that’s it for the whole promotion (for want of a better word) or can one fly to each flight point and open buckets, like every day? Or what?

You can only loot each bucket once per year, but there is no limit to the number of buckets you can loot in an hour/day/whatever. As long as you open each handful of candy, you can loot the buckets as fast as you can physically get to them.

What is limited is how often you can trick-or-treat by talking to an Innkeeper. After you talk to one, you’ll get a one-hour debuff that prevents you from doing it again. However, that will wear off whether you’re playing that character or not, so it’s limited to once an hour in real time.

> [@](#):
>
> Also when do dailies regenerate? 24 hours from the time you did your last one, or whenever the game resets?

Dailies reset every morning, I believe at 3 a.m. It’s the same for everyone, regardless of when they did their last daily.

Yep. The flip side of this type of balancing is that someone who knows what they’re doing can break the game pretty hard, at least in areas tuned for less-experienced players. City of Heroes is much like this: it balances to prevent as many nonviable builds as possible and also balances around basic ‘gear’ (the equivalent of level 200 gear for 80s currently), which means that people with synergistic, tuned builds with better gear can do some insane things to the game.

Hrmph. RNG is quite upsetting, double RNG doubly so. The pet and helm are the only things my druid still needs for her violet drake. I’m doing the trick or treating and HH on all my 80s, though, just because it’s achievement points and quick gold so why not?

So my shaman, that jerk, gets the pet and the helm. My priest gets the helm. My druid gets tricked almost every single time… and loads of candy corn.

I HATE CANDY CORN. (see: Lewis Black)

grr. If my druid doesn’t get her drake this year I’m going to throw things out my window.

Two-manning will actually be harder than soloing AQ40, because the first boss MCs. With one person, nobody gets controlled. With two people, you tend to get screwed pretty hard. Although one of you could just stay zoned out for that boss, I guess.

My boss needed a sample company newsletter whipped up quickly to show a client, and of course WoW is on all our minds all the time ;), so I made up the Sparkle Pony Ranch. I showed him a Sparkle Pony for context and he likes it. Other coworker wandered over and they were mesmerized by the flying animation Blizzard has on the purchase page.

**SFG** did point out the boss that stopped me, the first one…only because he split into 4 bosses…BUT that was a few months ago, before the patch. So I may get through him this time, but maybe we will do what SFG recommends…have one of us stay out of the zone. But I was able to get 3 of those mounts off the trash before I even had been tested by a boss. **Skammer** …maybe we’ll find some time this weekend to give it a try.

That’s what I had to do last year…I was trying to save enough BF tokens to buy the 3 piece garb and get smashed in Dal for one achieve, and then sell the garb back in order to get an application for the Brew of the Month club…only to fall 3 tokens short of my master plan. Last years tokens disappeared and I had to start over again this year to get 500 tokens to buy the garb and the app since this year you cannot sell the garb back in order to get the app. So this last Brewfest…I pounded that holiday hard to make sure I wasn’t gonna wait ANOTHER year for this tomfoolery. As of Sept. 30th, I am now a proud owner of the Violet Proto-Drake.
