Considering the Murloc chief was the whole point of the little coda with slooooowly following the sloooooow moo-id back to the little cave in the first place, I don’t see that. But I can’t verify from here.

I thought there was another Murloc dude in a cave off to the side, but I might be thinking of BFD (another loong slow slow long OMG YOU LIT ALL FOUR TORCHES WTF slow long low level thing.)

This is true. Try as I might, though, I’m not visualizing old WC having a murloc at all other than the end-dude. Raptors, slimes, winged serpents, crocolisks, snakes, swamp-things, one turtle, one stormbeast, one goblin (outside), two threshers (outside), lots of tiny flowermonsters, and rogue night elves, but only the one murloc.

The “OMG four torches!” dungeon is Blackfathom Deeps. I don’t think the last boss in there is a murloc, but it’s some sort of sea creature. There’s only one murloc in Wailing Caverns–the end boss.

Yeah, there’s a murloc boss off to the side in BFD, I think. Anyway I get the two mixed up.

I just did WC on Wednesday with my worgen, and I can confirm the end boss murloc is still there.

I don’t know how many bosses in total, because there were several already down when we joined the party.

I try to get a Shockwave off in the biggest clump to help slow them down.

And yeah, it is completely retarded. The DPS should be entirely responsible for the adds, but they’re saying they can’t do it with me as Prot, because I drop too much DPS. So, instead, they want me as Fury. Which means that (a) I have to constantly stance-dance to taunt the boss for Fury (his attack), and (b) I \*will \*die when my stacks get too high, so that’s a waste of a brez every time.

Yes, the other Murloc boss is in BFD. The only Murloc boss in WC is the very end boss, who you can \*only \*summon after you’ve killed the other major bosses, at which point you take the slower-than-walking walk with the NPC at the entrace, who summons it up (effectively summons it up, anyway–the boss comes as a result of the ritual he performs).

> It’s not that they’re blaming me–it’s just that they’re expecting me to step up and compensate for the fact that they’re not getting it done. The Warlock says that Demo AOE got nerfed in 4.6, so he’s not using that spec; the Mage isn’t going Frost; the DK isn’t going Frost. Any time I run back to help with adds, it looks like they’re not slowed for at least part of the way. Just frustrating. And I can’t keep a close eye on what’s going on because I’m having to pick up every single stack of Fury.

The warlock is stupid. Just because it was nerfed a bit, does not make it weak AOE, and it is still certainly better AOE than Destro or Affliction. If you don’t have any slow on the adds, which you’re forcing a healer to do when you have several other classes that can take care of it much easier, then you will wipe every time. If you want to progress, you’re going to have to put your foot down and force your raid to realize that this content is actually something you need to plan and spec around. You can’t just roll in with whatever random 10 people you have and expect to down bosses. It’s just not going to happen, and the sooner your raid realizes that, the better for all of you. Sorry, your raid is making me frustrated and I don’t have to do anything with them. I can only imagine how you feel.

> Strange raid night for my main group last night. Spent an hour wiping to stupid, stupid stuff on Conclave of the Wind - got so frustrating we were considering just calling it do to lack of focus. After the RL blew up a little bit at us we killed it and moved on to Bastion. Where we breezed through our farm bosses, had zero trash wipes, and got a new boss kill (Ascendant Council) after only 3-4 wipes.
>
> So we added Atramedes, Chimaeron, and Council to our kill list this week, with Maloriak and Cho’gall on notice. Too bad we had so much trouble with Conclave last night - it made us not have time to check out Cho’gall and fills me with an overpowering dread about Al’akir…

Exactly. A Frost DK makes the Fester Blood a joke. Seriously ridiculous and a waste of time for you to be going Fury, wasting your ONLY BR on that, instead of tweaking the tools you already have available in order to handle the encounter. A 10 man requires every player to be extremely flexible and be able to play multiple (if not all) specs of their class. There is no reason your DK/Warlock/Mage should not be doing more to help progress. Unless they like wiping to Cho’gall for months at a time.

Anyway, cheers to you **Jas09** for the recent kills! Are you working on 10 or 25? I wouldn’t get too discouraged about the Conclave failures; every guild has a week like that where a farm boss will, for some inexplicable reason, just give you hell. Good luck on Cho’gall (hopefully your DPS will actually try and slow the Bloods!).

Thanks! This is all 10-man stuff.

It was nice to make some progress - I’m just hoping folks are a bit more focused next week. No reason Maloriak shouldn’t go down (easier than Atramedes and Chimaeron IMO), and I think Cho’gall is very doable as well. And I’ll be slowing the Bloods myself. 🆒

Grats should go to **Shin Kell** too for the pro healing on Chimaeron - once we got the tank swaps sorted out it was an easy progression kill!

Oh, one other random Cho’gall question - I’ve seen a number of strats and board posts saying that 2-healing can really trivialize the first part of the fight (getting fewer adds and to the burn phase with lower corruption and more mana). I’m guessing you need some geared-out tanks to make that work, right?

Probably, yeah. And I’d say you need to be really on top of your interrupts on the mind controls during the times when the adds are out. If you let those go too long the tank starts taking damage that’s probably too heavy for 2 healers to handle.

I wouldn’t call it pro heals, I just needed to figure out that healing wave was way too slow to heal people up before Massacre.

So not looking forward to healing Cho’gall again. Phase 2 is a nightmare.

> BTW, I thought mages were da bomb? Is that only at 85, because my comparitive dps so far isn’t amazingly great.

I’m very far from a WoW expert. EQ has been more my thing over the years. That said, I created a mage and joined BDL around Christmas time. My experience is that the mage kind of sucked at low levels.

My mage (specced fire) is now level 65. I think I started doing random dungeons around level 25. At first I had to work hard to keep from being last on DPS lists. It was really apparently with well geared melee toons. I would occasionally see a melee toon pushing out 300 dps back then when I was just breaking 100.

Around level 45-50 (give or take) that started to change. At level 65 it’s honestly been a while since I haven’t been #1 in terms of DPS. My mage doesn’t always lead in total damage though, as I generally wait for good aggro before I join a fight and then unload with the AoE’s. The only time that I’m struggling now to lead in DPS is when we are fighting a lot of single targets and then I’m still staying on top. There’s just others close.

So speaking of aggro, what should I be watching for on the tanks to know that they are using a form of AoE taunt? I’ve never really played a tank class in WoW.

Back on the Cata zones after taking a 2 week Outlands/Northrend rep grinding detour. I went back to finish Twilight Highlands, which didn’t take me too long because, as I found out, I only had 2 quests left! Ha ha.

Really, really loved the [AGH!!! GOT Stood in the Fire WHILE WRITING THIS] Skullcrusher battle. Blizzard really stepped up their game on the solo questing for Cata, which I enjoy. Why no, I’m not confused at all by having this giant gaping lack of knowledge that goes from general questing in Outlands to suddenly doing Magister’s Terrace.

For some odd reason, on my server the mining competition is fierce in Twilight Highlands but Uldum is deserted. I make a pretty penny off of mining in Uldum, which I need after buying all the Netherwing Drakes and a Kirin Tor ring. 😃

Got serious about getting my Archeology levelled this week; just finished in Outland tonight. I have the fossil pet, but I got my first BoA epic with [Headdress of the First Saman](http://www.wowhead.com/item=64644). Not great for my resto shammy – although if I put wrath gems in the three slots and reforge the +hit (if I can) it might still be better than anything else I end up with even with the +agility, for a few levels. It will be awesome if and when my hunter ever gets to 61.

They’re really not kidding around with the speed of leveling. After a weekend of bopping through Vashj’ir and Deepholm (skipped Abyssal Depths and only partway through the latter), I’m a little over halfway through level 82 on my mage. Vashj’ir is freaking _tough_ at first before you get a hold of quest greens and drops, especially if you go straight in from leveling through Northrend. My mage had only barely been starting heroics when Cataclysm hit; the best he was wearing were some blue 200s. He died a lot before I started picking up Cata gear and remembered how to solo safely with Frost (Deep Freeze is yo’ _friend_). Hopefully my Druid with his purples should have an easier time when I take him through Hyjal.

I’d been intending on giving dungeons a pass for a while, but Shin and I tried a random and lucked out with a relatively simple Blackrock Caverns that we were all well-geared for. I’m always a little nervous about my performance in normal dungeons, but the Enhancement Shaman and I were tying at 4k DPS, so it’s good to know I’m pumping out decent damage. (The Hunter was lagging at 1-1.5k DPS, no idea what was going on there.) And seeing Deep Freeze crit for 25-30k is just beautiful. 😃 I’m glad they got rid of the requirement that you find the entrance to a dungeon first. That would have been troublesome for me.

I thought it quite odd that, given the name, that piece is itemized for a hunter rather than a shaman.

Heh, I was getting my ass kicked through there in iLvl 245-264 purples! I was rolling my eyes at posts on the official forums from people smugly insisting that the transition from Wrath to Cata was no more difficult that the transition up to any previous expansion. So I did the math, comparing max-level, non-elite mob HPs in the “lower” expansions with the same level mobs in the next one. It worked out that a level 60 TBC mob had 34% more HP than a level 60 vanilla mob; a level 70 Wrath mob had 28% more HP than a level 70 TBC mob … and a level 80 Cata mob had _170%_ more HPs than a level 80 Wrath mob. Yeah, that’s no tougher
Just picked up [Stood in the Fire] on a third toon - this time it was my orc warlock in Southern Barrens 😃

Also, I blowed up Bael’Modan _real_ good. That made S. Barrens the only post-Shattering zone I’ve completed on both the Alliance and Horde side.

It is, but those stats are equally useful for an enhancement shaman. Kind of silly to itemize it for only one out of three specs, but that’s hybrid classes for you.

> [@](#):
>
> and a level 80 Cata mob had _170%_ more HPs than a level 80 Wrath mob. Yeah, that’s no tougher

Yeah, I noticed that too. A level 80 mob in Northrend has about 12k HP, while a level 80 Cata mob (or at least the ones in Vashj’ir, haven’t been to Hyjal yet) is just over 30k. Not impossible by a long shot, especially since toward the end of Lich King most people could annihilate a level 80 mob in two seconds, but there isn’t much room for error until you pick up a few greens. I was so relieved when I got my first Cata staff, which gave me a full +870 spellpower. After that things started to flow a lot better. Unfortunately, before then you have to survive [Blood and Thunder](http://www.wowhead.com/quest=25949), which is extremely difficult if three mobs decide to aggro on you at once, which they did with depressing regularity.

Yeah, but whether you use the PUGger or not, the leader can change the roll system, and I’ve been in level 85 PUGs where we could roll on anything, and I think in those the roller was set to Free For All.

I used to be an achievement ho, but it was one of those “on my own” things, I wasn’t competing with anybody else.

Then a couple of weeks ago, I got one of those pretty screenies with three simultaneous achievements, and someone said “hey Par, she’s now 10 points higher than you!”
Par: “damn! I must achieve faster!”
