There are \*no \*PvE reasons for this change. There are many PvP reasons for this change. If you think this change is not motivated by PvP, you are wrong.

The lil’ bitty critters are often collateral damage in fights between big heroic player characters and anything else, but only if there are unaimed combat effects (like AoE, or multi-target attacks).

I always feel a little bad when my hunter’s multishot accidentally blows up some cute innocent animal. I feel mad when my elemental shaman’s chain lightning wastes a jump to a mob by jumping to a snake or frog instead.

For amusement, try doing a non-damaging AoE (fear, taunt, debuff like demoralizing shout, etc.) in a crowd of little critters. It’s kinda funny to see a bunch of squirrels and bunny rabbits come back and try to kill you, one health point at a time.

@ **Palooka** :

Important point for you to consider:

It’s my impression that you’re being blinded by the fact that Prot is not currently a top PvP spec. That’s \*not \*the issue. The issue is whether Blizzard thinks that the change to interrupt mechanics could potentially cause Prot Warriors to become more powerful than intended in PvP. And the answer is clearly yes. Again, if you disagree, I submit that it’s because you don’t understand Warrior mechanics.

I have no dog in this fight. I have one warrior, he’s a massively-underlevel alt, and he’s mostly just a trade alt. So I will not claim to understand Warrior-ing.

But I want to emphasize to all participants: Blizzard had **something** in mind when dropping Shield Bash. Removing it is clearly a nerf. Transferring some of its capabilities to Pummel is not much of a mitigation.

The key question is: “What problem was Blizzard fixing?”

I would be deeply fascinated to see any blue post or other semi-authoritative statement from someone on the inside.

Other than that, trying to guess what Blizz means to accomplish by weighing relative affects on PvE and PvP is less effective than Cold-War-era political intelligence by scrutinizing Kremlin Politburo pronouncements.

Seriously. Can anyone find a blue post hinting that Blizz was thinking of doing this, going as far back in time as needed?

To answer **SFG** , regarding the keg. Sorry, I keep forgetting to answer, but I try to get the bad guys out of the way first. I read up on it on Thottbot and I pull 'em one by one and get them that way.

The Big Kahuna, who’s right next to the keg, though, has another guard up by him, which makes it kinda tough to pull HIM, and then they’re both on **Clawdie** which is when that spell happens that turns her away from the action.

Thanks

Shield bash is a PvP change because Blizzard wants Prot warriors to be useless in PvP, but they weren’t useless enough before. Is that it? It seems really weird that’d implement a change with massive PvE ramifications to correct an almost non-existent PvP issue. Historically, they’ve been extremely reluctant to correct PvP issues that impact upon PvE balance. For that reason, I’d speculate it’s a PvE-focused change, but I can’t justify it as one since I don’t know how things are in PvE.

And what mechanics are you talking about? Can’t you just explain what you mean instead of saying I don’t know what’s going on? I mean seriously. “You don’t understand warrior mechanics” as a response to “Shield bash sucks in PvP because it resets the weapon swing timer when you try to use it.” Maybe I am wrong, but tell me why.

Interesting. I’ve never done this quest (never having played Alliance past level 12), but everything I’ve read says that you shouldn’t have to fight the big guy ([Ma’ruk Wyrmscale](http://www.wowhead.com/npc=2090)) at all. You should be able to approach and interact with the keg at maximum range (the very farthest-away point at which the “gear” pointer turns from gray to gold); if you make sure he’s wandered away from you at that point, you should be safe. Unless the comments on Wowhead are wrong (or outdated).

BTW, I’m sure he or the non-elite guy ([Dragonmaw Grunt](http://www.wowhead.com/npc=41072)) is the culprit, since they have a [Dragon’s Breath](http://www.wowhead.com/spell=78521)attack which “disorients” the player… which is exactly what you’re describing (lose control for a second, wind up pointing someplace random).

The real issue is that (A) you shouldn’t have to fight the elite, and (B) you shouldn’t have to fight a two-pull of anything. Since a mob is more likely to use a special attack like that the longer the fight goes, these attacks aren’t likely to occur unless the mob is an elite (and stays up longer), or you’re fighting too many (and can’t down them all before one of them pops that attack).

Try getting to the keg at maximum distance from the elite, particularly when he paths away from you. Sneaky sneaky is the way. (Stealth won’t help, since it will drop as soon as you start looting.)

I’m trying to figure out how he managed to take 38 points of damage by one-shotting the stag with Avenger’s Shield from 20 yards away. Does Blizzard have some “rule” that a melee class has to take _some_ damage in combat, however insignificant, even if that combat was carried out with a ranged ability and the mob couldn’t possibly have hit your character?

I get this on my boomkin, too. I one-shot the stags from range and still take a hit. What we’re getting hit with is Charge. The game processes it in the microsecond between combat starting and the stag dying from your attack. It only checks that Charge is a legal attack at that split moment, not that the stag actually makes it to you.

That’s what I used - the Stuck button gives you the choice to hearth or graveyard. I chose graveyard and it hearthed me anyway. I tried killing myself but couldn’t.

If you want a funny map image, look at Kalimdor and think about what Durotar and Azshara together would look _more_ like if Azshara didn’t have that big “bite” out of it 😃

> [@Shot\_From\_Guns](#):
>
> Spend a lot of time staring at Human female butts, eh? 😃

Yes, yes I do. And night elf female butts. And draenei female butts. And blood elf female butts 😃

The human female model, if you look at her “naked”, clearly has a properly-shaped butt (aside from the “corners” it has due to the low polygon count). But put her in a pair of solid-colored cloth or leather pants, and it just vanishes. Female night elves have a similar problem that I noticed the first time I rolled a female nelf druid way back when and she traded her starting robe for a tunic and a pair of light brown leather pants. Her butt suddenly looked like a _potato_.

The patterns on those new leather pants in my pic (they were a quest reward in Northern Stranglethorn) provide some definition where it’s needed.

One of my biggest laugh-out-loud moments came when my mage was in Uldum fighting a crocolisk. She killed the croc, and while she was looting the corpse I noticed “-1” floating across the screen several times. I was all, “WTF?” I stepped away from the corpse, and this colorful little Mac Frog came hopping out from under the corpse after me. Some AOE effect she used apparently clipped the li’l guy without killing him, and he got all up in her grill 😛

Okay, so it’s just like when my warrior Charges a mob, and the Charge’s stun effect takes effect the instant I push the button, not when the warrior actually reaches the target. Makes sense, I guess.

If you’re in a dungeon with the RDF, just use the minimap button to port out and port back. I have to do this occasionally when i get feared into a wall in H:SFK.

Hey, I chose a dwarf because “dwarves with guns” was a long-standing desire of mine, but fell in love when I saw that, not only did Cora have my same body type, she runs like I do! Which is to say: badly, unstylishly and with every body part kind of trying to go its own way…

The RNG Gods smiled on me last night. I was doing the Deepholm dailies and I popped out of the rude looking cave to see the rare worm that drops the iLevel346 plate tanking wrists [Terborus’s Rotating Bands](http://www.wowhead.com/item=67238) which was a big upgrade. Then while making Cogpsinner goggles on my rogue (random enhancement) I got ‘of the Bandit’ on my second try. Very happy.

Not so good news about finding a guild though, 2 applications rejected so far ☹

I almost threw up from laughter when I read this, because that is _exactly_ the way I run, in addition to the fact that I breathe like I’m fixin’ to die (I tend to squeak a bit).

When I ran track in high school, I sounded so bad, it affected my opponents psychologically to the point where one of them panted, “Man, shut **up**!!!”

Thanks for the laugh and the memories, **Nava**!
