OK, it’s late in the afternoon of December 31, 1969. Everyone’s coming over to my place to spend the night listening to music and, maybe, just maybe, getting a bit high 😉

Time to work on my playlist. The music from which _outstanding_ albums released this year will form the “aural background” as the old year fades and the new one dawns?

How 'bout these, at least for starters ? (in no particular order)

Pinkfloyd - [Ummagumma](http://www.amazon.com/Ummagumma-Pink-Floyd/dp/B000002UA5/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1262215845&sr=1-1)

King Crimson - [In the Court of the Crimson King](http://www.amazon.com/Court-Crimson-King-30th-Anniversary/dp/B000003S09/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1262215885&sr=1-3)

Stones - [Let It Bleed](http://www.amazon.com/Let-Bleed-Rolling-Stones/dp/B00006AW2G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1262215949&sr=1-1)

Frank Zappa - [Hot Rats](http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Rats-Frank-Zappa/dp/B0000009S3/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1262216052&sr=1-1)

Bob Dylan - [Nashville Skyline](http://www.amazon.com/Nashville-Skyline-Bob-Dylan/dp/B00028HODG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1262216100&sr=1-1)

Jimi Hendrix - [Electric Ladyland](http://www.amazon.com/Electric-Ladyland-Jimi-Hendrix-Experience/dp/B000002P5U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1262216147&sr=1-1)

Beatles - [Abbey Road](http://www.amazon.com/Abbey-Road-Beatles/dp/B000002UB3/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1262216201&sr=1-3)

Crosby, Stills, and Nash - [Crosby, Stills, and Nash](http://www.amazon.com/Crosby-Stills-Nash/dp/B000002J0P/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1262216243&sr=1-4)
OK, your turn. Pick a year (preferably before 2000) and create your New Year’s Eve background music playlist. But, the albums you choose must have been released in that year (and maybe one or two from the year before but no earlier). And they must be OUTSTANDING. To keep this readable, and to compel you to really give it some thought, you’re limited to TEN (10) albums (my OP, my rules! ;))

You know, this wouldn’t really work in reality, because you wouldn’t necessarily limit yourself to just the albums released the one year. One would tend to also include albums from other years past.

For example, while I would probably go with _Abbey Road_, and _Let It Bleed_, any Dylan album released up to that time would probably be a better choice than _Nashville Skyline_.
