He was running to be the Democratic Senatorial candidate, but dropped out of the race because his opponent had too much support in the eastern part of the state and he didn’t think he could beat her without a very negative campaign. She won the primary, and then ran an extremely lackluster campaign in the general, and lost. It was a goddamn shame: Jackson is so good, he could have had a salutary influence on the entire ballot, in my opinion. I suspect we’ll see him as governor within the decade; and after that, who knows? ---

Just noting that I enjoyed the NYT phrasing of Santos as a “serial fabulist”. I guess “really shitty liar” is not in their lexicon. ---

I was out to dinner in Queens the night before the election and it seemed like every commercial was a campaign ad for this race. In the runup to this election, there was a NYT article that I can’t find that said something like, Suozzi battles for a seat struggling with the damaged reputation of the Dems. I thought, the Dems have a damaged reputation in Santos’s district? Come on.
