Good luck getting Grad student housing. My nephew just started his graduate work at NYU, and was told he’d get grad housing. However, they reneged (after cashing his $1000 deposit check) and told him he was on his own due to “excess demand”. He found a one bedroom apartment not too far away for $2100 a month, and found a roommate to share said one bedroom with. They put up a partition so they each have half a bedroom, and share the bathroom and a tiny kitchen.
But he does get to live in Manhattan! I’m sort of envious.
