New York state is looking into creating a special hotline for CEOs to report threats

Why not? 911 is not appropriate. They are voters, they are taxpayers and they are targets.

There are-

Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
National Human Trafficking Hotline:
National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline
The Trevor Project Helpline
California Peer-Run Warm Line
National Runaway Safeline :
and many, many more.

Is there a threat hotline for anyone else who’s a voter, a taxpayer, and a target?

And what about all of the CEOs who aren’t taxpayers?

Then why are their victims not given the same consideration?

What victims? CEOs all have victims? Grocery Chains?

Do you know how common it is for people to go hungry? And how badly the workers at such places are treated?

I don’t begrudge them a dedicated hotline, since they sit in unique peril.

But I’d love if the voice on the other end of the line started with “please listen carefully as our menu options have changed…”

“Para Español, oprime nueve.”

(Ten second pause)

“Did you know you can save time by signing up online? Visit ceowatch.gov today or download the app now available on Google Play and the Apple Store! If this is an emergency, please hang up and dial 911. If you know the name of your assassin, please enter their extension now. To hear our hours, press 1…”

“Your call would be very important to us if we were also CEOs. Please hold for the next available agent” < tinny music plays >

I doubt it. Trump got shot at and we collectively shrugged our shoulders. You’ll find some talking heads, particularly among Fox News and others of that ilk, that tried to pin the blame on the dangerous rhetoric of the radical left, but even among most Trump supporters it just wasn’t that big of a deal. Trump certainly tried to capitalized, both politically and monetarily, on the attempt on his life, but I don’t think it moved the needle on his campaign one way or the other.

Not if they can help it.

Maybe they can use Chuck Mangione’s “Feels So Good” as the hold music.

If CEO shootings became as frequent as school shootings, you might actually see reasonable gun control laws.

More accurately, the rich have already paid for their politicians and now expect to get the services they deserve. A million dollars at the right time to the right person can get you billions in favors over the long term. Remember, you’re not buying the politician. You’re buying the system.

Number of black people killed with a gun in NYC in 2024: 95*
Number of CEOs killed with a gun in NYC in 2024: 1

We’d better address this epidemic of CEO violence.

*I couldn’t find the number, so made a WAG that it was 25% of the total 2023 murders.

I wonder if you can 3D print a guillotine?

We won’t know until we try.

It’s 57% for murder and non-negligent manslaughter, not that it changes the point:

Also, this does not specifically say “with a gun” but I’m guessing the percentage should be roughly the same, unless some demographic has a preference for different murder weapon types.
