You don’t have to say fuck white people to be fringe left. And you don’t have to say “fuck white people” to drive people away.

> [@](#):
>
> The people “driving the liberal agenda” (whoever the fuck you think these people are) are not expressing the sentiment “fuck white people.”

See Sarah Jeong.

> [@](#):
>
> You do understand what “fringe” means right?

Yes and just as the fringe right are driving the conservative agenda, the fringe left is driving the liberal one.

> [@](#):
>
> Explain what the fuck the “liberal agenda” is supposed to be.

Well, the Liberal agenda USED to be a rights based philosophy where people had equal rights and we tried to level the playing field. Logic and reason were pretty fundamental elements of the liberal agenda.

Now due to the influence of critical race theory, some people have abandoned logic and reason in favor of anecdote and storytelling. I suspect you don’t realize where the recent shift in the liberal agenda is even coming from.

Seriously, take a look at this wiki when you get a chance.

> **[Critical race theory](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_race_theory)**

> Critical race theory (CRT) is an interdisciplinary academic field focused on the relationships between social conceptions of race and ethnicity, social and political laws, and media. CRT also considers racism to be systemic in various laws and rules, and not only based on individuals' prejudices. They wanted to go there because they were repulsed by the lunatic left.

> [@](#):

> It was crystal fucking clear exactly who Trump was before the election. If a moderate could have gone “either way”, and if that moderate chose to vote for Trump: then that is the choice and the responsibility of the person who made that choice. It isn’t my fucking responsibility. I didn’t make them go there.

So are swing voters a myth?

There are swing voters in every election. We just didn’t think we needed them this time around because Hillary assured us we had it in the bag. We had polls telling us that this was probably right. What we neglected to take into account was the fact that liberal thought policing had effectively driven non-liberal sentiments underground. But they came out for the election and Trump squeaked a win past us because people like you gave him the room to do so.

If your antagonism made them stay home or vote for Trump then regardless of how virtuous you see yourself, you drove them there and you are responsible for Trump. You have won the battle and lost the war. Now get ready for the next war and try not to be such a self righteous prick this time. Are you trying to change hearts and minds or are you trying to feel morally superior by shouting at the folks sitting on the fence?

> [@](#):

I see some right here in this thread. If you can’t recognize it, then you are part of the problem.

> [@](#):
>
> What kind of names would prompt someone to vote for a clear and present danger to everything that makes America great?

Trump is deeply embarassing but he is not a clear and present danger to everything American. He is just mortifyingly embarassing. The worst thing he has done is rip hundreds of children from their parents. Bush bombed 100 times as many children into their graves. Trump’s tax cuts are a fucking abomination but tax laws can be changed, the Bush tax cuts were probably worse. Trump may be taking an adversarial attack vector in trade but frankly there is bipartisan support and opposition to that. He is nominating conservative justices, nothing special about that.
His stance on immigration seems racist and frankly THIS is what is really bothering so many people. But even this will change as soon as the administration changes.

> [@](#):
>
> White supremacy is not a uniquely American problem.

You think white supremacy is the worst thing about Trump? Are you fucking kidding me? He blows a few dog whistles at them but Trump is a trainwreck of multivaried dimensions.

> [@](#):

Don’t you have a facebook feed? I don’t have a study to show you.

> [@](#):

Let me suggest that you have a very skewed and myopic view of what is going on. I’m not saying that your positions are wrong but politically, you can’t say dictate how people vote. You have to win their votes.

> First of all, I did not make STATEMENT 2 (neither did I assert the opposite was true; I simply have not taken a position on that question). But let’s set that aside. We can also set aside the fact that this all originated with my claim about _intradistrict_ funding, a distinction EE is hellbent on obscuring. Let’s just look at the logic fail established by EE’s own premises and his false conclusion about what “mathematically speaking” they “must mean”.
>
> The first sentence below the STATEMENTS (“Do you not realize that, mathematically speaking, this must mean that non-special-ed black schoolchildren must receive less per capita funding than non-special-ed white schoolchildren?”) is trivially true and redundant, because it is nothing more than a rephrasing of STATEMENT 2 (which, again, I never made, but w/e). But it’s the second statement that is logically false:
>
> “And that special ed black schoolchildren must receive less per capita funding than special ed white schoolchildren?”
>
> The “And” clearly means in grammatical terms that it is a continuation of the first sentence, so we could rewrite this assertion (which, in logical terminology, is a “consequent”, the “STATEMENTS” functioning as “antecedents”) as follows for greater clarity:
>
> “This must mean that special ed black schoolchildren must receive less per capita funding than special ed white schoolchildren.”
>
> To make it even clearer, speaking of antecedents, let’s replace the vague-sounding word “This” with what it quite obviously refers to:
>
> “If STATEMENT 1, STATEMENT 2, and STATEMENT 3 are all true, it must mean that special ed black schoolchildren must receive less per capita funding than special ed white schoolchildren.”
>
> The simplest way to disprove this is to provide a single counterexample.
>
> So let’s imagine a school with 20 students, ten white and ten black. Two of the white kids and five of the black kids are SpEd. We’ll assign their funding levels as follows:
>
> —The eight reg ed white kids average $110 in funding, for a total of $880.
> —The five reg ed black kids average $100 in funding, for a total of $500.
> —The two SpEd white kids average $200 in funding, for a total of $400.
> —The five SpEd black kids average $202 in funding, for a total of $1,010.
>
> Now, let’s go through the STATEMENTs one by one:
>
> “STATEMENT 1: Black schoolchildren get more funding on average than white schoolchildren”
>
> Is this one true? Yes. The ten black kids average $151 in funding, while the ten white kids average $128.
>
> “STATEMENT 2: Excluding Special Ed funding, black schoolchildren get less funding than white schoolchildren”
>
> Is this true in our thought experiment? Yes. The reg ed white kids are averaging $110 in funding, ten bucks more per capita than the reg ed black kids.
>
> “STATEMENT 3: STATEMENT 1 and STATEMENT 2 can both be true because a higher percentage of black schoolchildren receive Special Ed funding”
>
> This is not really of a piece with the other two antecedents, but we’ll cut EE some slack here because he was not tasked with presenting a formal logic proposition. In any case, it is true: 50% of the black kids receive Special Ed funding, vs. 20% of the white kids. 50 is more than 20. And the “because” explanation is accurately stated.
>
> Now, what about our reworded consequent (conclusion)?
>
> “If STATEMENT 1, STATEMENT 2, and STATEMENT 3 are all true, it must mean that special ed black schoolchildren must receive less per capita funding than special ed white schoolchildren.”
>
> Do our black SpEd students receive less per capita funding than our white SpEd students? No. No, they do not. EE may not be aware of this, but $202 is in fact NOT less then $200. Oops! :smack:
>
> Now just admit you were wrong yet again, EE (and you too, Andy), and STAY DOWN. 😛

A) We’re not crowdsourcing. We’re just reiterating the notion that youa re wrong and that I am not the only one that thinks so.

B) I doubt Paranoid Randoid is even paying attention to this thread anymore.

Hannity and Limbaugh and their ilk have taught you well. Their view of the left is certainly not accurate, but it has been incredibly influential, even on presumable moderates like you. They have successfully convinced many, many white people (and a few others) that the left hates them, and thus they can blame the left for being pushed towards racism-enablers and tolerators like Trump.

It’s largely fictional – “critical race theory” is both not particularly widespread or influential among the left (aside from specialist academics and writers) and your view of it appears wildly inaccurate. There might be a very few lefties that actually qualify as something akin to what you’re describing, but that’s very, very few, and they have been mostly preceded (for decades!) by the very successful Hannity/Limbaugh view that the left has hated white people for decades.

Jeong didn’t drive any significant number of people away who hadn’t already been driven away for decades by the successful (and false) propaganda of the Hannity/Limbaugh wing. They are very grateful to you for continuing to push their bullshit view of the left.

My statement wasn’t incorrect. You just aren’t smart enough to understand what I was saying.

I have repeatedly challenged you to point out in my actual post, with cites, where you think I made a mistake. You have repeatedly failed to do that, and the reason is that you tried to do that, realized that you did in fact misunderstand my post, and now you’re just too embarrassed to admit it.

This is just getting sad, dude. The next time you post to me, cite my actual post or shut the fuck up about it, you dumb asshole.

The only two people who think so are you and **SlackerInc**. No offence, but I think you’re borderline retarded\*, and \*\*SlackerInc \*\*has even bigger problems than that. I’d be more concerned if both of you agreed I was right about something.

\*Not an insult, just an observation. I think there’s a grey area between normal functionality and full-on clinical retardation, and I think you fall in that area. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you participate in a discussion without at some point grossly misunderstanding something that someone said. Doing that once or twice is understandable. Doing it every fucking time is a sign of some sort of mental defect.

It isn’t the “fringe right.” Because the “fringe” control the executive, the legislature and are doing their best to control the judiciary. When “the fringe right” are in the process of enacting white supremacist ideals and holds the most powerful office in the history of the planet its time to stop calling them “fringe” and call it as it actually is.

The confluence of concepts like intersectionality, White privilege, microaggressions, institutional racism, white fragility is where critical race theory lives. if you find yourself internalizing all of these things. You have been a crit race theorist.

Why didn’t I feel this way 10 years ago or 20 years ago? Jeong won’t affect my vote but I’m not really that close to the fence. But that doesn’t mean that the left rallying around her racism like this won’t push some people off that fence.

u mad bro?

Yes The Sarah Jeongs of the world are driving the liberal agenda.

They are ruining liberalism. Its becoming more about feelings and anecdote rather than facts and reason. Conservatives used to be the party that was immune to fact. There is a good case to be made that it is the liberals now.

People like you are responsible for the Trumps of the world. If a fascist regime blossoms in your country it will be because of people like you. Congratulations, you’ve nerdraged us into hell.

No, I’m saying that their bullshit has resulted in many white people (and a few others) falsely blaming the left for being “pushed” into the arms of Trump. It’s bullshit. But successful bullshit.

Is this like the new SJW? Just a way to label progressive attitudes you want to dismiss? Do you really think institutional racism is bullshit? Is there no such thing as white privilege? If these concepts are legitimate topics to discuss, then it’s not reasonable to blame them for Trump’s success.

The left hasn’t rallied around her tweets. She denounced them herself. Virtually no one in the left, aside from the hardest of the hard-core keyboard warriors, even know who she is, from a national perspective.

Trump is the logical result of decades of Hannity and Limbaugh’s style of bullshit propaganda. Not the left. But they successfully convinced tons of Americans that the left, and most of the media, was evil and out to get them. It was and still is entirely bullshit, apart from a teeny-tiny fringe (a fringe which will always exist, because there are always people who believe in anything, and now they’re easy to find on the internet). There’s no equivalent on the left that has anything near the influence that they have.

God this idea that the left is in any way responsible for Trump is ludicrous. There’s no data that would support this hypothesis, and tons of data that supports alternate hypothesis. Nate Silver has written extensively about it – the very best statistical predictor of support for Trump was google searches for “nigger”. Not one of the best, but the very best, according to Silver:

Ha! Nice. That was a sick burn.

Still, unlike some here I feel honor-bound to call things fairly, regardless of whether or not someone is on my “side”. And I must admit, I do cringe when I see you write “noone”. And in fairness it must be said that EE does not make those kinds of spelling errors. However, EE makes all kinds of other cringey errors: he puts double quotes nested inside of double quotes instead of using single quotes; he computes averages incorrectly, then later demonstrates that he doesn’t even understand what the word “average” means; he makes it clear he doesn’t get how analogies work; and he tries to advance logical-mathematical propositions that are not valid—either because he can’t do the computations correctly, doesn’t understand formal logical structures, or most likely both. And then he aggressively insists everyone else is idiotic and he is right, making even this atheist think about the Biblical adage concerning planks in one’s own eyes vs. motes in others’.

ETA: The left is not “to blame for Trump”. There is nothing remotely excusable about voting for Trump. But there are things we can do to make it less likely for someone like Trump to win. This is the same distinction as saying it’s not “victim blaming” to caution young college women to avoid accepting drinks in open containers. If you accept such a drink and get roofie-raped, it’s not “your fault”, but it’s still a good idea to take the precaution.

That doesn’t mean it’s the best indicator of who voted for Obama in 2008 and/or 2012 but voted for Trump in 2016. Those are the people we need to study and target, not the ones who search for the N-word (I still find it weird and cringey that you keep writing it out BTW) and probably have not voted for any Democratic presidential candidate since 1960.

This is true, I am not, really. Things move much too fast for my attention span to keep up. By the time I popped back in my own post had been buried.

For what it’s worth I was referring to a specific formulation of a math problem, as formulated by you (Damuri Ajashi), that concerns how looking at per capita figures can lead to unintuitive results. The made up example you gave was sound. If the main point of disagreement is what the figures are in reality, well, I have no real insight there.
