Read the link. If the 100+ falsehoods attributed to Trump since he became president are false, then refute them. For bonus points, pony up a list of all the Clinton lies.

Ha ha, what am I saying? Sharting Fartist wouldn’t know a fact if it somehow got lodged between his tongue and Trump’s asshole.

> What’s amazing to me is that Trump lies so often you would think he would be better at it. But he’s an absolutely terrible liar.

He’s only now getting to the point where developing the skill would help him.

Up 'till he ran for president, when he lied, he could just wave some money around, and everyone (except for the people he was lying to fuck over) would fall over themselves pretending to believe.

Now people have incentive to call him out on his bullshit, or at least less incentive to go along with it.

And he’s entirely unequipped to deal with it.

> Always with the yeah-butt. Can’t ever just admit that Trump is a pathological liar and leave it at that. As if any lies Clintons ever told absolves Trump of any wrong doing.

The point isn’t that Clinton lies absolve Trump. Rather, it’s a condemnation of the media for ignoring the lies and deceptive behavior of Democrat politicians while Trumpeting (sorry) those of Republicans.

Biased and hypocritical reporting by the mainstream media has proven counterproductive (the rise of Limbaugh and Fox, for example). The roughly 50/50 divide in votership hasn’t been diminished in the slightest despite their best efforts all these years. And it’s lead to the situation we have currently where we have the liberal news media and the conservative news media, each of whose audience watches or reads in order to hear what they want to hear.

One would think they’d learn. Unfortunately the liberal contingent in this country seems immune or uncaring as to the damage it does itself in its zeal to wallow in self-righteousness. Witness Hollywood, for example, whose ticket sales are nowhere what they would be were most of its populace not busily engaged in pissing off half the country. Witness also the blowback by the three quarters of American society that doesn’t identify as liberal, which has resulted in the Republican party being in control of most of the country’s governorships, the House, the Senate, the Presidency, and for a long time, the Supreme Court. Time and time again we’re heard from the small number of liberals who get it that non-stop attacks on everyone who doesn’t agree with you is both a turn off and self-defeating, and yet most of the liberal voices in the country have made clear their intention to double down and engage in even more of it.

Well, hooray for my side, I guess, but still I’d prefer things run the way they were when adults were still in charge and people and politicians could disagree while acknowledging the other side has what it thinks is best at heart while remaining friends despite their disagreement.

I’ve seen this kind of fan behavior many many times now, so I think I have at least the most obvious correct answer for you.

```
His most loyal followers, the ones who continue to complain when OTHERS lie, but excuse all of Trumps lies, do so for the usual short list of cover stories.
```

- Trump’s lies are all STRATEGIC. They are part of a deep plot to accomplish all the goals they think he promised them to pursue.

- Trump’s lies are REVENGE for the lies of others. And of course, it’s always okay to lie a a form of REVENGE, provided it’s against people who they don’t like.

- Trumps lies are caused by the people who he lies to. That is, his opponents are so vile and horrible, he HAS to lie, just to fend them off, or to treat them in the horrid fashion which they so richly deserve, for being his opponents.

- The most childish cover story, someone actually posted above somewhere: “the other people did it FIRST! So that makes it okay and praiseworthy when our guy does it!” Most mature adults wont even let the smallest child get away with that tripe, but some of them will declare it to be proof of Godhood, when it’s necessary to blind themselves to their own insistent stupidity. And I say stupidity very carefully there, because the only word we have for people who have declared that they are incapable of learning, IS “stupidity.”

Basically, Trump’s most dedicated followers actually love him BECAUSE HE LIES AND LIES AND LIES. When opponents write up lists of all his lies, they laugh with glee and celebrate them.

Oh, and by the way, he wont bring about peace in the M.E. But I have no doubt whatsoever, given his now VERY long history of doing so over and over again, that he will insist on taking credit for absolutely anything positive which DOES end up happening there, especially if it is because of actions which were taken by previous Presidents, long before he even decided to run.

> The point isn’t that Clinton lies absolve Trump. Rather, it’s a condemnation of the media for ignoring the lies and deceptive behavior of Democrat politicians

What “ignoring”? The lies and deceptions of Democrat **ic** (note correct spelling of “Democratic” as adjective) politicians are picked to pieces in the media all the time.

What seems to be bothering you is the fact that most people other than ill-informed conservative zealots are simply less upset about the lies of Democrats (note correct spelling of “Democrats” as noun), because they’re far less numerous and less egregious than those of Republicans.
:rolleyes: Once again, **Starving Artist** constructs an “argument” based on his own wishful thinking about what he **imagines** would happen if some large-scale cultural phenomenon were different in some vaguely specified way.

In the real world, of course, the Hollywood film industry overall is extremely successful while films that cater to the ill-informed conservative zealot demographic (which **Starving Artist** mistakenly imagines to be “half the country”) tend to do quite lackluster business.
Witness also the blowback by the three quarters of American society that doesn’t identify as liberal, which has resulted in the Republican party being in control of most of the country’s governorships, the House, the Senate, the Presidency, and for a long time, the Supreme Court.
Nah, the blowback in American society is largely due to anger about the results of Republican policies, which Republican politicians have successfully and dishonestly managed to blame on liberal ideology (aided by decades of excessively yielding and bipartisan Democratic politicians too intimidated to stand up for what liberal ideology actually is). Look at the remarkable popular success of the Sanders campaign in channeling that anger to its rightful conservative targets, simply by being forthright about what liberalism actually stands for and what citizens actually ought to expect from their government.
Time and time again we’re heard from the small number of liberals who get it that non-stop attacks on everyone who doesn’t agree with you is both a turn off and self-defeating
If that were really true, the Republicans as a party would be doing far worse than they are. It’s true that **your** non-stop attacks on everyone who doesn’t agree with you are both a turn off and self-defeating, but on these boards your attacks don’t have the financial backing, widespread political corruption, PR expertise, or credulously ignorant audience that the Republican party organization benefits from.
but still I’d prefer things run the way they were when adults were still in charge and people and politicians could disagree while acknowledging the other side has what it thinks is best at heart while remaining friends despite their disagreement.
You can’t justify willful blindness and dishonesty by demanding them in the name of civility. The problem with your rosy-hued scenario is that at present, unlike at many times in the past, the Republican organization **doesn’t** “have what it thinks best at heart”—at least, not what’s best for Americans as a whole.

Your controlling elite has now embraced an ideology of supporting **what it thinks best for the interests of wealthy conservatives**. Nobody else’s well-being or liberties really matter to them. Demanding that liberals stop pointing this out because it embarrasses your side and hurts your feelings is both cowardly and dishonest.

I’ll make it even easier for you - my lies have to be unique, meaning that if Clinton repeated a lie on numerous occasions, I have to come up with a new lie from Trump each time. And even easier: my lies have to be of at least similar magnitude or type. So it’s not enough to point out that Trump lied about what he had for breakfast if Clinton lied about what happened in Benghazi.
>
> Fun game, right? You should have a huge advantage - I have a presidential campaign and half a year of being president to work off of, you have a multi-decadal political career. Should be _easy_, right? Y’wanna start, or should I?

Who would judge whether a statement is a lie?

Example:

> [@Rushgeekgirl](#):
>
> You can’t keep saying ‘fake news’ when the lies are coming right from him and we have access, like the twitter business or all these interviews and recordings from rallies and meetings and the lies about the recordings of those meetings.

But Trump’s tweet said:

> [@@RealDonaldJTrump](#):
>
> James Comey better hope that there are no “tapes” of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!

That’s not a lie: he doesn’t claim there are tapes. But I’d say there’s at least an implication that tapes might exist.

> [@Clinton](#):
>
> This is—the great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president. _(In response to Linda Tripp’s revelations)_

Not a lie for several reasons, even though Tripp’s revelations were substantially true.

If you played this game, who would judge whether a given statement was a lie?

[Uhhhh, not really.](http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2016/jul/29/joaquin-castro/joaquin-castro-says-donald-trump-defended-world-wa/) Trump made some wishy-washy statements about Japanese internment camps, but he never “suggested” internment camps for Muslims. Some guy from a PAC (not a member of Trump’s campaign) suggested that the Japanese Internment during WWII set a precedent for a Muslim registry, but he did not propose Muslim internment camps.

Muslim registry? Yes. Internment camp? No.
