To me a politician can lie by making a campaign statement and doing the opposite legislatively. That’s the definition of a political lie. Donald is in politics now even though we all know he shouldn’t be. ---

To the best of my understanding, the AHCA eliminates some Medicare taxes on high earners, but doesn’t actually cut Medicare benefits. This threatens the future of Medicare, but doesn’t seem to eliminate any benefits, which I would say is the common interpretation of “cutting Medicare.” Further, Trump’s budget proposal (surprisingly) doesn’t propose Medicare cuts. So if I understand the facts correctly, I don’t think Trump’s statement, as quoted, is an unambiguous lie. Not that I trust him one teeny bit, of course. ---
