Newish buzzphrase: IOT = Internet of Things. What do I need to know about it?

I bet you can’t reach the wall switch for the basement lights from your bed after you turn in and realize you forgot to turn them off.

I don’t have many IoT things in my house right now, but I do like my doorbell camera. Just yesterday I was was sitting at work, received a notification that someone was on the front porch, watched the video, and was able to tell my daughter to bring the grocery delivery inside. Knowing my daughter, if I hadn’t it would still be sitting there 3 hours later when I got home from work.

Quick Update: I got the job offer today and it is quite good. I will be starting next week.
