The next movie may be Pierce Brosnan’s last. If so, I nominate [Charles Shaughnessy](http://us.imdb.com/Name?Shaughnessy,+Charles) for the 21st. He was a panelist on To Tell the Truth recently; when I caught one episode in the middle, I thought he **was** James Bond (i.e.: Pierce Brosnan)! Or, if Eon does decide to Americanize 007, Bruce Willis. Also, BMW’s contract expired with the last movie, which opens the door for another Aston Martin. Or a Saab, if the new movie is based on Icebreaker (I hope, I hope). BTW: yes, I’m aware that there have been other threads on the subject, but they’re all nearly a year old or more. ---

I believe the Aston Martin Vanquish is the new Bond car. ---

I can’t really think of a new Bond. I hope Brosnan sticks with it for a while longer, I like him as Bond. Whoever they choose and whatever they base it on, I just hope they drop the same freaking formula they’ve been beating to death (or base the films off the John Gardner books) and do something _original_ for a change. It’s time to drop what Bond used to be and update the series a little. Forget ski chases, get Bond on a snowboard! Forget the cliche of catching Bond and coming up with an elaborate death, that is such a freaking joke anymore, have the bad guy try to _kill_ Bond instead of playing cat and mouse with him. The last movie sucked IMHO (thanks in large part to Denise Richards) and Robert Carlisle was wasted in what could’ve been a great Bond villian. ---

They need to clone Sean Connery and accelerate the clone’s aging 'til he’s in his 30s again. ---

Personally, I’d like to see another recurring villain like Blofeld. Somebody equal to Bond in resourcefulness who gets away at the end, possibly after causing Bond some major physical or emotional pain. That way, you’ve got the plot for the next movie ready-made: Bond hunting down villain X, looking for revenge. No Rube Goldberg world-domination schemes necessary! And make this villain smart enough to not sit around gloating like a moron when he has Bond trapped! –sublight. P.S. Yeah, Richards pretty much ruined the last film. If they had just switched her role with Marceau’s it might have worked. ---

Who cares about the cars? I just want a “James Bond Rolex” (Submariner non-date with the “Brevet” crown and no crown guards, on a NATO strap). ---

I’d settle for just some semblance of the original plot, I’d love to see 007 almost getting crushed by a pair of giant Finnish snow plows. This was possibly the best Bond novel ever written, probably because it was one of Gardner’s first after taking over the series. But Brosnan wants to stay away from political themes, so I doubt they’d go with the Neo-Nazi plotline. They could rework the plot so it involves the reestablishment of SPECTRE instead. ---

I read somewhere a while back that they were considering Adrian Paul as the next Bond. Now, I think Brosnon is a wonderful Bond. The man was born to wear a tux and smirk. But I’ll be so there if Paul gets it next. But that’s personal bias. ---

Nope. The “James Bond Rolex” was the watch worn by Sean Connery in, for example, _Goldfinger_. The next Bond will be played by Will Smith. His “fresh” and “in your face” attitude will be appropriately complimented by his Kia offroad tracker. His missions will mostly be against evil supervillain Hagar, played by suave uber-stud John Lubbitz. ---

The Vanquish is certainly rumoured to be the next JB car. And what [a car it is!](http://www.geocities.com/Phattcars2/astonvanquish.html) Fantastic. For a while, [Robbie Williams](http://www.dotmusic.com/artists/RobbieWilliams/news/April2001/news19408.asp) was rumoured as the next JB. And frankly, I think he could pull it off. But he has to wait another 8 years or so. Too young. [Shaughnessy](http://www.charles-shaughnessy.com/), I had never even heard of. Good looking guy, so he’s got that going for him. And _please_, guys. No jokes about Americanising 007. Then again, Lazenby was a Kiwi, Connery a Scot, and Brosnan a Paddy. But we gotta draw the line somewhere. 😃 ---

Wasn’t Charles I’mnotevengonnatrytospellthat the dad on _The Nanny_? I like the Vanquish, but only if it gets the Mercury Marauder treatment–black interior, gloss black paint, eveything else (grille, chrome, trim, etc) painted flat black. 🙂 ---

Well I really am looking foward to seeing bond back in an Aston Martin, but I really hate Pierce Brosnan - he’s a terrable bond IMHO. ---
