I don’t think the President should appear on the show of an unrepentant racist. ---

That’s odd, because I’ve never heard Maher being racist. If you’re referring to Islam – a religion, not a race – Maher is pretty much down on all religions (not a racist position), correctly states that Islam is among the most extreme in some of the beliefs that it promulgates (not a racist position), and has stated more than once that it’s the _ **ideas** _, not the people, that he opposes (not a racist position). So you’re either mistaken or thinking of somebody else. In any case it’s getting OT in this thread. ---

I bet Obama doesn’t appear on _Real Time_ while president, but will do so shortly after he’s out of office. ---

If he wants to do it he’ll do it – by satellite if necessary. It would probably only take 20 minutes out of one Friday night (or he could even do it pre-taped, if necessary). ---

Right now, the petition is nearing double the requirement for a response – almost 200,000. I knew it would easily reach the required 100K but I’m surprised it just keeps climbing. I’m really quite fascinated by all this. Obama is a cool guy, Maher has made a career out of being a gadfly (I love 'em both) and the fairness and reputation of the Presidency is involved, given Obama’s participation in entertainment media almost everywhere else. ---

Fairness and reputation of the Presidency? I think that’s a little much. Frankly, Maher is just a little too caustic and anti-religion to likely score the Pesident. Maaaaaybe after he leaves office.
