I was never crazy about “Feels So Good”, but I loved his album _Land of Make Believe_, which my folks used to play on 8-track in the car when I was a kid. (Of course, I didn’t get the line about the “King” who “had a dream” until I was much older.) ---

There was a parking garage near my old workplace that played his stuff in their elevator. And yeah, I liked his “King of the Hill” appearance. But I was never a big brass instrument fan. I don’t dislike horns, but I never rejoice when they’re the featured lead. ---

My brother is a big fan so I grew up hearing CM, playing in the background, loudly. Said brother would be stabby at the thought of him being classified as B-list. ---

I just found out from an article that we went to the same high school. He was a decade older so we never overlapped. I knew he was a Rochester kid but I never realized how close of one. ---

“Feels So Good” was the theme to some local community events show when I was a kid, so I always associate it with that.
