What happened to Teddy Bridgewater (and almost cost him his leg or even life) was a non-contact injury during a practice. They can be really, really bad, which is so unintuitive. ---

The one I always remember is Vinny Testaverde rupturing his achilles with the Jets. That could have been their year, too. Parcells as head coach, Belichick as DC, talented roster. Googling to make sure I didn’t dream that, apparently it was after handing the ball off. Oh man, just brutal. ---

If the season ended today the Patriots would be in the playoffs. The other two 7-6 teams, Jets and Chargers, don’t exactly inspire confidence either. ---

Or maybe it was because Miami looked terrible. As you mentioned, Chargers remaining schedule has Titans, Colts, Rams, and Broncos. All of which are winnable games. ---
