He really has looked more gaunt this season to my eyes. Maybe gone off the deep end on his TB12 method. A lot of it was basic good sense (eat right, exercise, rest, etc) but some of it sounded woo-ish or at least woo-adjacent. ---

I think it’s best to run it up the middle there at the end of the game on 4th and goal from the two instead of kneeling. (Up by 19, 25 seconds left.) Peyton at the end: “You don’t see two knees back to back very often, two different teams.” That’s an understatement. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before, two different teams kneeling down on consecutive plays. ---

If you run up the middle, there’s a chance that the running back will score. And that would certainly look like rubbing salt in the wound. You probably don’t want to piss off the other team; you don’t know when that might come back to bite you in the ass. ---

I only watched the highlights (or lowlights, I guess) and boy was that an embarrassing loss for the Pats at home. The defense, which is supposedly the strength of this team and has been playing quite well of late, looked anemic. They couldn’t cover anyone, they couldn’t tackle anyone, and they made Fields look like the second coming of Lamar Jackson. And now they have apparently lost faith in Mac Jones, their “franchise” QB. This was a sharp turnaround in the wrong direction. ---

Bah. If the opponents don’t want you to score, they should stop you. And the Pats won’t see the Bears again for 4 years (maybe 2, but the Lions will certainly finish last in the NFC North, and Pats seem destined for last in AFC East also). Do Belichick and Eberflus know each other or have a history or anything? Usually Belichick spends about 1 second with the opposing coach, especially after a loss. But last night he was talking to Eberflus for 5+ seconds, long enough for the director to cut to another camera. ---

If they stopped them again, the outcome would have been the same. Plus, kneeling removes all risk of injury, however slight it might be. If the Bears were playing the Packers, would you say the same thing? ---

I think we did the kneel down because Belichick chose not to use his timeouts. That was a signal that he was capitulating. I think the kneel down was not only sportsman like but also appropriate. Please note that his team also took a knee on the last play. ---
