Even with a win, I think the Jets might have beat the Giants for worst opening game of this season. Rough either way for the NY teams that share a Jersey stadium. ---

He signed a reworked three-year, $112.5 million contract with the Jets last month, which includes $75 million in fully guaranteed salary between this season and next. They could release him as a post-June 1 cut, to avoid a big 2024 hit, but they’d have to carry $49 million in dead money on their 2025 salary cap. If they did that, they would still carry $17.1 million in dead money in 2024. It wasn’t just Rodgers who is now hobbled in the Jets organization. ---
